Starting at birth will let baby learn and reply sooner. Three month old can sign “milk” tip: naturally a closed fist often means hungry, open palm usually means baby is full.

Thank you for this. I have a son who just turned 9mo, and I'm really trying to bridge the communication gap between us, so it's less of a guessing game and is providing more clear understanding of what he wants/needs. I'm definitely going to be using these all the time now.

Thank you so much for sharing this video, I loved the idea of being able to help babies express their wants and needs in a way other than crying. I know that it can be difficult for children when we as parents aren't understanding what they are trying to communicate. I am definitely going to try working with my granddaughter when she gets to the right age. I really love the idea that this can help boost a child's self-confidence. Absolutely wonderful! Keep making a difference!

Thank you for your comment. I agree 100% with you that so much frustration and crying will be eliminated when parents understand what their babies are trying to communicate. And the great thing is babies learn simple signs so easily. Have fun teaching your granddaughter.

This is so helpful.. my 1 year old is not saying hardly anything but mama and dada, so we hear a ridiculous amount of screaming daily from him. It has been driving us crazy 😔 I wish we had started sign language at 6 months, but better late than never. I started today and got extremely discouraged when he seemed completely uninterested and kept screaming for what he wanted. So this is really helpful, hearing you say it is just simply going to take time and not to push! Overtime it will happen and he will sign back! Love this video, thanks so much for putting this together for other parents ❤
@ActivelyFamily
@ActivelyFamily 2 жыл бұрын
You are so right. It’s never too late to start. Keep being consistent, your baby will eventually get it. It’s at least worth trying to eliminate unnecessary screaming. Good luck!

Thank you so much for sharing this video! So helpful and practical to our day to day. You make it look so simple that i can’t wait to start trying these simple signs with my baby boy. We have trouble keeping our little guy still when changing his diapers. If you have any tips, please share! Thank you!

I agree that teaching your baby sign language isn’t hard. It just requires a lot of consistently. I am always impressed at how easily babies pick up on the signs. My baby is also wiggly when I change his diaper. I like to offer him a toy to hold while I change him to help keep him still. I also play a tickling game when I change him. He seems to be still long enough for me to change him while he waits to be tickled.

Again, why would you sign the sign wrong instead of continuing to model the correct sign so he learns it properly. When a child is learning to speak and says ipijip for lipstick, do we get rid of the true English word for his made up word.??
@ActivelyFamily
@ActivelyFamily 2 жыл бұрын
I understand your question. The point of baby sign language is to decide on a sign that works for you and your baby. Even if it’s not the actual ASL sign, your baby can still learn to communicate with you. Do what sign works best for you.
