Well thank you for this! Dietrich Bonhoeffer impacted my life in the 1980's when, standing in a bookshop I picked up his book "The cost of discipleship" opened it in front and the words: "when Christ calls a man he bids him come and die" hit me in my solar plexus. I bought the book needless to say, and it influenced my walk with Christ. I regard that book as a classic and must read for everyone serious about their faith in Christ. About three years ago I walked into a 2nd hand bookshop and found an English translated biography on Dietrich Bonhoeffer written by his friend Eberharf Bethge in 1967 in German. It is 836 pages in small print! So Eric, your biography is not so daunting after all. People have just become lazy to read. I bought it for the equivalent of US $5 and regard it as a treasure. I believe God used you to bring this man's life and testimony to the American Church as a wake up call for sure! Looking at where we as the universal Church are today, more than 12 years since this talk of yours, it is vitally important for Christians to realise what is happening. The hour is truly late! May God have mercy on us!

Instead of re-reading the same nonsense, why not read "Dietrich Bonhoeffer: A Biography" by Bethge, who was his close friend. Take metaxas "coolness" away and read a real book.

I am presently reading the first half of the book for the second time. I stopped for awhile and had to start over. Bonhoeffer's time and our time are truly, eerily similar. Eric Metaxas is a genius.

Bonhoeffer"my Hero". His Love affair with Maria must have been most painful for both of them.She was so young and to read about her dedication to him and his family was awe inspiring.I believe she eventually got married in the USA and died of cancer in the 70`s

Also, he absolutely love Jesus and that’s why he’s bringing up DB who was so passionate about his love to spread the real truth. Sometimes we need to bring up people who have love for Christ and how they suffered for Christ. Many Christian’s are very weak and they just believe with mouth but there’s no action to share the gospel outside of our comfort zone. Faith without work is dead…James 2:26. Eric emphasize throughout his speech we must NOT allow this ideology of hatred towards people that are infiltrating to divide people with BLM, anti-semitism, critical race theory, lgbt movements, etc. He is NOW literally letting pastors and people know this is happening now like Hitler did but using these different tactics. We need to NOT allow our 1st Amendment to be taken away in America. It is happening slowly but we if don’t fight it will be like WW2….fight the good fight. Socialism come using anything to divide people ans many even Christian’s don’t understand this. If you read any history esp Hitler time this is how evil leaders trick people to take over people’s lives to control people mind. We must trust God and we Christian’s must fight this ideology of division. People and even Christian’s forget throughout the Bible God always mention …..Be faithful, believe, trust, and have NO FEAR! Also, he goes to extremes saying socialism is evil and will turn us into a country like Nazi Germany. Do you realize a lot of countries have socialist policies; these countries are in no way like Nazi Germany. Canada has Health Care for all; Greece has Health care for all plus they pay for Education all the way thru collage; France, United Kingdom and a lot of the Scandinavian Countries have Socialist Policies. They have not turned into a Nazi Germany. People who are for Socialist Policies, who help all there citizens have Health care and a Collage Education (not just for the Rich but for the poor) are doing the good works of Christians. Christians treat the LGBTQ Community with love and are loving their neighbor as there self. (These are the requirements of the law). God made you and sent you to show you how to love not condemn!
