This is outstanding! I’m sharing the word. I must admit that watching the world burn down around me and not see much hope in saving, I have said on a few occasions to myself and others “We must have been forgotten by God. He has turned his back to us because we are so wicked.” I wasn’t saying it to be evil but I was beginning to think we were alone: I truly began to think he had left. But I was still pushing back and fighting for his cause. Nothing is more disheartening to think that he has left us. But then I am reminded by scripture and others, and this message by Eric Metaxis, that we do not fight alone. God has shown me several times that he is with us. I suppose it depends on what you mean by "politics." If it means making a career out of it, for your own gain and at the expense of your conscience, then sorry, politics is sin. If it means taking a stand for what's right, THEN you're talking. Most people today regard politics as an end in itself. It's a career path followed by people who want status and money without any of the responsibility, without having any real skin in the game. It means playing by a set of rules which sees itself as the point of those rules. And, interestingly, one of the biggest rules in politics is Break Faith for the Sake of Expedience. Politicians (and I include activists) make a career out of lying, stealing, cheating, defiling and murder. At best it is a chancy tool, more likely to cut you than help you. Be very, very careful.

I'm pretty sure he just means that people shouldn't be afraid to speak to others on the subject of politics, to voice opinions that reflect the faith in relation to what's going on in the world. Too many people are cowards and, thus, conform to the spirit of the age for fears of being rejected by others. I see what you mean by getting into politics, as it's a dirty game in which power, or the quest for it, inevitably corrupts. But, as (participating) bystanders, we can discern between better and worse options from which to choose. Trump is flawed, yes, but the alternative is atrocious. The least we can do is not be afraid to say it. Like he said, courage isn't for extra credit, it's a requirement.

romans 13:1, Everyone submit to authority. God has place them there & will remove them. Pray for leaders, regardless of political party. God save Trump's life--to be president again? We don't know that. Many prophecy that--but we will see. Maybe it's just because many have prayed for him & God is giving him another chance to turn around--and nothing more. To cast one party as God's chosen & the other as the Devil's is not scriptural. Pray for those in authority. What I see is that when Republicans win, God answered our prayers.
