OMG poor Cooper!! As each song progressed, you could almost see his brain melting 🤣🤣🤣 This was an absolute joy to watch. Ian, your excitement was palpable, and EXACTLY what I'm like when I go on my hook-a-new-Ren-fan fishing trips. So far, my husband is a convert who now has a Ren playlist for his commute to work, my daughter (21) was hooked via the 'Ren is fit' bait, my 8 year old boy was summoned by Bongo Bong (and stayed for the guitar stuff), and I FINALLY got my 26 year old son over to the light side last night via The Tales Trilogy (he loves dark and twisty stories). My mission is complete! Now to turn to the rest of the world 🤣🤣🤣 Congrats on 2k! And yes, Cooper should come back. Money Game 1&2 for sure, then Ren x Sam, and Ren x Chinchilla. I liked the track at the end, btw. I like your poetry too, though I don't comment much. I can watch stuff and read, but typing comments is hit and miss as my youngest is ASD and pretty much attached to me permanently.

On the one hand, Ren's struggle is what seeps into his music making it so fucking incredible but if he never got sick? He'd have probably written a Broadway play or blockbuster movie by now. Thanks for being disciplined and keeping it moving along. Great reaction. I don't listen to reactions this long, but... I thought I'd watch during dinner. I didn't expect to watch the entire thing, but I did. subscribed. Just a note: He doesn't know when he was bitten by the tick that gave him Lyme, but it was 2010 when he was so continuously exhausted that he couldn't hide it any more - while working on his first record. A few months in, he stopped and went home "to rest." But it kept getting worse. It was 2016 when he got his diagnosis - by then, the medical word was that he'd probably not live past 30: in 2015 he didn't think he'd live another year. So, saved by stem cell transplants, (which he had 3X over the next few years)he's still dealing with organ and brain damage and unending pain. (An interviewer commented that he looks good, he responded that he chooses when people see him.) The treatment in Canada was initially planned for 6 months, and is now extended. Ren has said it's helping. When you watch Patience, that's from before his diagnosis - pure courage and determination.

One of my favourite things about Ren reactions is seeing the moment that the person crosses the line of being changed forever. Particularly on Hi Ren - you can see it in the eyes that the person has been touched. In my past, it was a Love Supreme, Dark Side of the Moon, Ziggy Stardust, OK Computer moment - it's probably why us older folks see something so familiar in Ren. Great reaction guys.

THIS REACTION WAS MAGIC. I mean, at least as far as the end of Hi Ren, lol, I couldn't hold off from commenting any longer. I feel like I need to watch it like 3 more times just to enjoy alllll of the various expressions and body language going on between you two! Cooper being astounded by Ren, and Ian FINALLY getting to enjoy introducing his brother to Ren. PURE MAGIC to behold. well done, and congrats on 2k subs - you earned one more through me tonight. Edit: staircases in the trilogy... - Screech - Ren starts his Screech guitar intro melody partway down that long staircase... Screech is mid-fall; he's already killed Jenny at this point, and is about to hit the ground without a parachute (suicide by police). - Violet - the camera looks upwards into what, from this angle, is a wonky off-kilter spiral staircase. Even though intellectually we know we're looking *upwards* you can look at that frame from a different 'side' of your brain and see it as a staircase spiralling downwards, just like Violet's life.💔 On top of it of course also being perfect for the reverb-y, eerie soundscape.

That's a good point about the stair position in Screech's tale. You might be right about the staircase in Violet's tale. I took it a little differently, as the staircase was an opportunity to climb out of the dark place Violet's in (and started in given her awful father), but she can only look upwards and ends up having no chance of climbing out (after which Ren goes out into the dark alley). Also, not sure if planned, but the seagull sounds in the quiet moments in the alley part of Violet's tale fit perfectly, just another case of using the environment around and how his live takes add things that would be more difficult in a studio recording.

I love the seagull for lots of out-of-story reasons, and within the story, I love that it's perfectly placed as both a death omen/call to beyond, and an ambulance siren.

I love that your brother is basically having the exact same journey that I took as I fully realized the depth of the musicality and fell entirely into the rabbit hole. I've tried to share a Ren with some of my family members and it's completely random as to who of them get it and admire it as much as I do. My brother-in-law who is very into music was dismissive immediately. Whereas my 60 year old Mormon aunt was obsessed... Thank you so much for this, really enjoyed it and great chemistry between Cooper and yourself. The first times for hearing any Ren songs feels like being slapped round the face several times and you have no idea what's just happened. I'm convinced that after a few more watches once Cooper's had time to digest, being an actor, he will recognise just what an exceptional story teller and actor Ren is. We are all Ian! Every single reaction we watch to Ren, we sit and wait for the realizations to appear on people's faces. We watch for the moment they get chills and goosebumps. We feel so much joy and connection with other people as they transition to RENegades, and they crawl down the rabbit hole to join us. I loved this! That was so fun to watch- you had me smiling the whole time! I've watched 100's of reaction takes, and this was, hands down, the best 54:02 min I've spent in the past year. Loved watching your anticipation of his reaction and the sheer joy of sharing Ren. Would love to see more of you leading him down the rabbit hole- through every den in the warren.

Really enjoyed that Ian. As a guy who's really close to my own 2 brothers, great to see that bond you have with yours. Clear to see your enjoyment at introducing him to Ren and watching his reaction. Oh and also loved Sailboat, cracking song. I feel like you should have been banned Cooper from further Ren exploration though and had him react again.

I saw a reactor say, in connection with the stairs in Violet's speech, that 1; it gives the reverb to Ren's voice - but also 2; The next line is "The devil..." and thus the stairs, when the camera looks up, can symbolize heaven/God... But unfortunately there is no light up there... It is dark, so for Violet = no hope. I don't know, but to me, it makes sense. Another tragic layer to the story
