I am not your usual listener. I have never come across your channel before. I am a sixty-five-year-old white woman that loves all kinds of music except country. I was just looking around for reaction videos to Ren. I too have recently been blown away by this young talent. I want you to know that all the reaction videos that I have seen and there has been many lately for rent and some other music that I like yours has by far than the best. I like the way you took mr. Biscuit on a journey. I too love doing that with someone that appreciates good music. I have been heavily into all different types of music since I have been very young and worked at the 2nd largest record store in New York state when I was 16-18. I love the way you did three of his songs, with minimal interruption. There have been reaction videos that I couldn't even get through because they stopped after every single verse, often talking through important details of the song. You did not do that you respected the music. And I love looking at your faces because you were getting the same thrill out of this young musical genius Thank you

I believe "REN" (WILL) go down as one of the Greatest "Musicians" / "Live-Performers" / Poets/Song writers/story-tellers/ "Artists" of ALL TIME!! He's like a throw back from the 60s for Talent BUT With 4x the skills/genre's! I only found his Music Last year and I'm English & British and this young Welshman British man BLEW MY BRAINS OUT with "Hi Ren" THEN I kept watching literally for about 4 hours the busking etc etc.. when he played Black Sabbath and Bob Marley and a number of other tunes with the Band HE BLEW MY MIND! And Stuck a personal chord with his SHEER TALENT/GENIUS and Personal Struggle! The man is an INSPIRATION!! GOD BLESS HIM and God Protect him! 💪👊❤️🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧

“Chalk Outlines” ft Chinchilla to hear yet another side of Ren. He’s just so multi faceted. Unlike anything or anyone else. Well rounded, musicians musician. You can’t box him in. It’s impossible. To top it off, he records most things live, in one take, with only his phenomenal cameraman Sam.

In Hi Ren the part that sticks out the most to (besides the speech at the end is), "You can't kill me I'm Temptation and I'm IMMORTAL! Oh yeah? Well I'm HOPE and I'm Eternal!" Opposing forces battling throughout the history of time! Ren is Shakespeare like both musically and poetically! Also, I sent you the link to the last Ren song with The Big Push. I am SOOO glad you reacted to it a while back and took your boy on the Ren Ride and LOVE 32:12 that says it all and is why I am trying to get more people to react to this song. Ren's versatility and vast skills from writing musically/poetically, playing, acting, raping, singing, beatboxing, and genres like Reggae, Rap, RnB, and Grime is not comparable to almost anyone!

Apologies for such a lengthy reply. Thank you for sharing that regarding the Animal Farm, and greed. I’ve also read it’s a representation of the medical system and certain practitioners and their mistreatment when they get it so so wrong. I’ve been living with the same physical conditions as Ren for nearly 30 years, there’s long been great discrimination within the global medical community of misdiagnosing it as ‘all in our head’ or ‘psychosomatic. The psychs (obviously not all, some amazing ones out there too) hijacked our conditions decades ago so we went without the proper research and funding into the actual biomedical origins and causes, leading to incorrect psych diagnosis and treatment for such a devastating physical condition. I’ve lost a few very dear friends along the way because of this. The tide has luckily slowly been turning in the past 5-10 years, some incredibly brave and brilliant scientists and drs fought back and are doing amazing work now. It’s still early days comparatively though. But it meant many of us live in fear of the very drs and medical system we desperately need help from. I have personally felt literally butchered by them including due to operations not done correctly and nearly losing my life more than once. So when I see some (not all) drs and surgeons, the butchering pig is 100% the imagery I have, they do not feel human to me, and it can be terrifying. Many of us are left with ‘medical ptsd’ purely due to years of misdiagnosis, mismanagement, physical endangerment and neglect, and the years of gaslighting from the medical system. Plus from having to fight so damn hard for access to get the actual treatment we need. Keeping in mind most of us live in countries with public heath systems that do not provide the drs and treatments needed due to lack of public funding, yet because most of us can’t work we don’t have the financial means to go private or overseas where treatments are available. Ren needing to go to Belgium for stem cell treatment and now Canada for his current treatment, yet needing to fundraise on gofundme for the exorbitant costs is evidence of this. Evidence of how the government and NHS (along with equivalent in many other nations) is failing him and millions more. #millionsmissing So when I first saw the pigs, I immediately quite literally associated them with certain drs and with the treatment many of us have suffered at the hands of the medical system. But also figuratively with the system’s corrupt immense power over us, as in the pigs portrayal in the Animal Farm. I’m grateful you confirmed this in your comment. Plus as @iron raspberry pointed out, Greed. Be It the group of British psych scientists of Oxford to hog (🐽) the funds that should have been directed to biomedical researchers instead, along with governments’ dismal funding etc. Just to repeat myself, a great shift has happened in recent years. Due to the bravery of some incredibly brilliant scientists and drs. And of course the global community people/patient power movement that helped push it into the limelight. But it’s still early stages and we need so much more, most still have no access to specialists and treatments. Ren is now one of the most powerful patient/people voices in this community and I’m so in awe of and grateful to him. Plus his music has been the best cathartic medicine. I’ll also point out, when most people are faced with a such a difficult life changing diagnosis with huge stigma, a sudden inability to work and poverty, lack of medical care, the loss of loved ones and broken relationships, isolation if homebound/bed bound… well therapy is very much needed. But due to the lingering old false information still believed by some professionals in the psych community, most of us don’t dare seek out therapy for fear of further medical gaslighting. Luckily we have strong online supportive communities, but we should have access to safe professional mental health support. The suicide rate in the community is shocking. Lastly, if you go to REN’s KZbin page, the video he released to announce his new music is an old vlog of his when he was younger and very ill, it’s heartbreaking, raw and very real. In the video description he has written a full essay explaining all of this including his personal journey with it. And how it was the motivation for the new songs. Watching and reading it helps greatly in better understanding many of his lyrics and video imagery too, both in his older and newer music.

I heard some band playing down the street, good music - bluesy, funky, rocky mixed up - I went to have a look and listen. They were busking on the street by the Laines area. Really good, talented, excellent vibe. The vocalist was outstanding. After about 10 minutes, they took a break and I carried on with whatever it was that I was doing. A few months ago I came across a video, here on KZbin, of the band - Big Push . "Great" I thought, had a look at their stuff and enjoyed the vibe again. Now this!! Amazing!! I took an interest in perception and words used, since discovering I have aphantasia and the rest of you are pretty much clairvoyant in my eyes! Among other things was a bass from the bassist from Verve. It’s well worth a watch, so glad he’s getting the recognition he deserves. Edit: not 100% sure, but I think Fat Boy Slim, like REN, is also from Brighton. There’s an awesome video on KZbin of Fat Boy Slim performing live on the beach in Brighton back in the day, the entire city turned out, filled the entire beach. So I like that Ren chose this song and filmed it in the exact same area, like a homage to Fat Boy Slim AND their shared hometown.

Ren is very talented and I think the big push are all wonderful Romain’s guitar skills and his lovely energy is also a joy to watch plus the other guy that sings is also great, listening to him sing Sympathy for the Devil on their very last gig was fantastic, being a stones fan myself I am quite critical about cover I see of the big songs, ain’t seen anyone who can pull off Merry yet on Give me Shelter. There is a video somewhere with her vocal isolated out and the story of what happened that night.

I've been watching Ren for the last few days, and he is stunning in his talent... I told my wife and shared "Hi Ren" on my Facebook page as the best thing I've heard in decades. It struck me today that it's like the first time hearing Pink Floyd "Darkside of the Moon". Maybe a bit like hearing Queen "Bohemian Rapsody" when it came out. He's insanely talented and I'm stunned that he doesn't have a label... which may be a good thing for the rest of us. His continious stream videography shot by his buddy and flat mates for basically no cost mean he gets to do what he is drawn to, no contractual obligations that lead to half assed product because a label was pushing for the next hit.

So far I have only seen Hi Ren from him and I was so goddamn moved and inspired I was an instant fan, as a musician myself I have a lot of roots in a lot of styles from the worlds of Metal and Jazz (my primary music endeavors) to Acapella, Hip Hop, Prog, Folk, Indie, hell even a little country in there. As someone who grew up into fast underground rap, I was a goddamn Technician to the core (Still am shout out Tech N9ne, shout out KCMO) Hearing this guy go from this vulnerable, deep, well acted, utterly beautiful composition on Hi Ren, with the rap and poetry, the virtuosity on the guitar, the beautiful singing and terrifying vocal work, to just straight up spitting heat, and spitting it at a breakneck speed in The Hunger..god fucking damn this living legend has earned me as an endless fan.

I read this in the comments on the official video for "Hi Ren". These are direct words from Ren. and it explains a lot. """Up until I was 9 years old, I would intermittently hear a voice in my head that was not my own. The voice was distinctly different to mine, and always negative. It would self criticise or urge me to do things I knew to be morally wrong. The most peculiar thing about the voice was that it took no effort on my behalf to produce. My own thoughts always felt like there was a process that required effort to bring them to the forefront of my mind, this voice appeared as though it was spoken by another. The sentences felt predetermined like they had already been constructed. I remember very vividly at 9 years old, becoming very frustrated with the voice. I stood in my back yard, internally screaming at the voice to be silent again and again, and it did. In a flash there was silence, to the point where my head felt like an empty room. I wasn't used to the quiet and that voice never returned. It almost felt lonely in my head. When I got older I had intermittent bouts with auditory hallucinations where I would hear perfect symphonies, usually at night when drifting off to sleep. They were so clear that they sounded like they were emanating from a radio in the corner of my room. I knew they weren't there, but for some reason they never came with the feeling of fear. I also recall sitting on a bus at the age of 15, and hearing the sound of a crowded room, with about 100 voices chattering away, I was the only person apart from the driver on the bus. These experiences were always very brief, and few and far between. My last hallucination was during an intense bout of psychosis in 2015, and was my first visual hallucination. I was walking down a pavement after jumping out my mums car in a crossroads in a moment of frustration and distress with my condition. I was trying to run from myself. What appeared to be a homeless man with a dark complexion approached me, and asked me what was wrong. I explained that I had been sick most my life, and I wasn't sure I had the strength to continue. He looked at me, and smiled and told me 'everything is going to be okay in the end Ren.' I had not told him my name. There was something so overpoweringly sincere about this very simple message, which brought with it an overwhelming feeling of inner peace, and in a flash, he vanished. My rational brain always linked these experiences to what the doctors have told me, that there are parts of my brain compromised by the autoimmunity in my body. That the myelin sheaths surrounding the complex electrical system that conduct my thoughts were damaged and compromised, causing these lucid experiences that I knew did not exist inside the physical world. The part of me that edges away from logical and rational thought always attributed these thoughts to some kind of otherworldly intervention, that made my thoughts the battleground of some spiritual tug of war. For a long time I never really acknowledged this part of myself, for with it brought the danger and stigma of sounding like a crazy person. I decided with my latest release, to the best of my ability, to capture and express this chess match of thought. """""---------Ren

Ren was signed by Sony at 17 and immediately thereafter was diagnosed with Lyme Disease and then dropped by Sony. He was very sick and housebound for the next ten years. "Sick Boi" and "Chalk Outlines" tell this tale. In a room alone he honed his skills into magnificence. He's in Canada getting stem cell therapy now. I call him The Bard of Brighton. as he's Shakespeare, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie and Em all wrapped into one genius brain. Continue on your dive into him guys ❤

As I understand it the story was a little different, and a lot more fucked up. He got incredibly sick shortly after being signed like you said, but when he went to the doctor they couldn't find anything wrong with him, so they assumed it had to be psychological and prescribed anti-psychotic meds to treat his "delusions". Lyme disease is incredibly painful and draining and he knew that something real was wrong, so when the psych meds did nothing he continued going to doctor after doctor and they all kept telling him it was all in his head. He spent that 10 years mostly in his bed, because he didn't have the strength to get out of it for more than about an hour a day. He finally went to a doctor that diagnosed him with Lyme disease, but the problem then was that the disease had been ravaging his body and his brain for 10 years unchecked. That's why he has had to go through stem cell therapy (which I believe initially happened several years ago now), because the normal treatments were not enough for late stage Lyme disease.

I think the pigs head theme is a lord of the flies reference. In that story boys lost on an island essentially represent the interplay of love, hope, primal evil, insanity, group think, acceptance and so many other themes of humanity (and abandoning it)… and in the end it is all so futile, a self contained and instantly dismissed journey when they are found.

This was a great reaction video (and I’ve watched a lot). I love your chemistry together. Going by Mr Biscuits’ comments regarding what parts he liked and what most captivated him about Ren, I’m guessing he’d really enjoy the Jenny and Screech trilogy. It’s masterful story telling along with the theatrical element, it’s art. Each song is made in one take too. Ren has a single video available with all 3 songs in the correct order, which is really important, In order to understand how the 3 characters tales connect to one another. The reveal is at the very end. Would really appreciate if the two of you could do a reaction video to it! Good luck to you both with each of your upcoming music projects.

What an amazing production! I really love the format, and I think you are right: Introducing your guest to something you think will inspire them was so fascinating! Mr Biscuit was awesome. Now, as an absolute Ren fan in ger third month it felt really good to recognize myself in you. You looked exactly how I looked when someone said 'Ren is this' and I got to pass on my amazement of a new Ren. I think there are die hard fans of seven years, then there are the ones who found him and Sam through Blind Eyed, there are the ones who found him through the Money Game 2 Sea shells meme, and there are the ones who followed the Big Push out of Brighton, unt Covid stopped them in their tracks. But Hi Ren is catapulting him to shine, as you so aptly put it. I find what you are doing for him amazing, and I really cannot wait to see the first fruits from that, maybe with some collaborations. This was brilliant. Shared.

In terms of ‘The Hunger’ that’s exactly what it is. He’s just showcasing, he’s going wild and having fun with the beat he created. It’s not just rhyming for rhyme’s sake but I do think this is mainly a Ren “commercial” if you will. Just another string to his bow. Edit: “the title of this song (The Hunger) makes sense. He’s just trying to show us he’s an animal - he’s trying to show us how many pockets he can tap into” - Biscuit.
