Actor Sumona Chakravarti embraces single living in her new Mumbai home

Adult children leaving home to live on their own has always been a rite of passage in Western culture, but we in India are only just embracing young people’s domestic independence. Actor, Sumona's 450 sq ft 1BHK flat in the suburb of Andheri has given her a real feeling of this independence. Her brief to the designer duo Huzefa Rangwala and Jasem Pirani of MuseLAB was simple: ‘break everything down’. “I knew I wanted to build something exactly to my liking. This is a small house, and I didn’t want too many walls.” The result, a compact yet spacious home with a Scandi-minimalism style perfect for one person to live in.

Ive always liked this actress without even knowing her name. Shes the best part of kapil sharmas otherwise boring show full of drag queens. Wow lovely design ! As small spaces are challenging and always demand creativity and imagination , the designers either tend to create a hollow interior or too loud. But this is perfect. It reminded me of smart and elegant Japanese interior spaces . Beautiful ! Plus kudos to Sumona for being so specific which blended perfectly with the designer's vision 💕
