Alot of actors thought recording voice work was like movies how you get paid royalties. It doesn't work like that though, you get paid throughout your recording for the game and that's it. Burt Reynolds being a tool shortened his role in the game, they originally had more missions with Avery and Tommy was gonna cameo in the San Andreas introduction. Unlike Burt and Ray who were out of line i'm more understanding of Michael Hollick and Young Mayley.

GTA 5 though is when they became super corporate and the online was when take two took control of them. I think Rockstar has made clear their stand about payments, if you remember the dialogue in GTA San Andreas, between Jizzy and T-Bone Mendez, where T-Bone said: "You knew the deal, you agreed, besides we could have said 5 percent.." Rockstar would stick to the agreement, how much these voice actors are paid, no bonus if the game succeeds and explodes exponentially.

If you agree to a deal, stick with it-no complaining after the fact. That’s what separates a true businessman from an actor. Next time, negotiate for 1-2% of all copies if you're the main character. There's always room for adjustments, but no matter what, you'll end up with more than just 100k. Understand your value and make sure you get what you deserve.

Rockstar is notorious for underpaying their actors , thats why they never had an actor come back because the actor would want more money for a second job , and now they just hire no name actors , again, its all about the money, im not bothered anymore because for me gta is done as a series, gta6 is gonna be woke gay bullcrap, and gta online is gonna be even more predatory than the current version , in short, its not gonna be a fun game at all.

the only "A list" celebrity was Samuel L. Jackson. Burt was a nobody by the time GTA vice city was out. Sure he was in iconic movies but by that point no one cared. Ray Liotta was an awful actor, if his best acting was in Goodfellas, yeah, wouldn't have hired him other than the fact he was in a well respected (somehow) mafia movie. As for Niko's voice actor, he was a nobody, sure the game made half a billion the first week. However he would have something great on his acting resume that a lot of other actors would. Instead he just made himself look like an idiot (same with CJ's actor) who just comes off as greedy. I can only imagine what it would be like to constantly get 1000s of autistic children asking him when GTA 6 is out though and that tattooed idiot asking for a few million... yeah... not going to happen, maybe a few rocks of crack. Lindsay Lohans case was thrown out as they actually showed the model who the "peace girl' was based off of as well if I remember correctly. Take 2 / Rockstar seem to have been using the Disney approach where they pretty much hire actors straight out of rehab who may be penny less or so irrelevant that they accept the low offers.

Business is business, you accepted what you accepted, expecting a billion dollar company to treat you like family is very naive. Also, if Rockstar took a loss, nobody would be willing to give some of their money back to help them recoup, HOWEVER, I'm a firm believer of doing certain things just because it's the honourable thing to do and FEELS right. When you pay someone 5-6 figures and they turn out to be a cornerstone of your franchise like a CJ or Niko and help generate billions not gross but NET, going out of your way to look out for them beyond what's in the contract doesn't hurt. Nobody is saying give them 10% or even 10 million out of those billions but even a million wouldn't hurt or a little half a percent for the first years sales. When the company thrives beyond expectation, you want to look out for your people, that's how you gain peoples loyalty for life and it will pay dividends in the long run.

There are software engineers and coders etc behind these games who do the real work and feel the same way. It's just the way the world works, if you own the company you get all the money.
