This is probably referring to the Marty McFly character which was originally played by a different actor, Eric Stoltz. Though major portions ahd already been filmed, it was recast with actor Michael J. Fox taking over the part. It might not have been mentioned because the part was simply recast while the film was in production. Neither actor 'doubled' for the other onscreen. Good spotting. And it is an interesting story, also covered in a few KZbin videos out there.

In Blade, Snipes also refused to open his eyes in one scene so they had to do CGI eyes on him
