Don't know if anyone will have mentioned before, but the story of Paddington was inspired from WW2 with the author seeing children arriving in Britain alone being rescued from across Europe sent by parents who couldn't join them or had been taken. Even British children from some cities had some refugee experience, being taken into the country to avoid the bombs and taken in by random people. They arrived with tags around their necks, looking for a home. That's why there are a couple off WW2 refugee references in the first film.

Your Paddington reactions are things of joy in their own right. They are a perfect tribute to the original Paddington character, and to the skill and love with which he was brought to the big screen

I think the Paddington movies are the perfect proof that every movie doesn't have to be big scale or dark and edgy or realistic. It doesn't even have to be extreme. A movie about a kind little talking bear and a few other characters can be an absolutely amazing.

That steam engine at 49:57 is actually a modern locomotive: LNER Perppercorn Class A1 No. 60163, Tornado. The engine was finished being built in 2008, and although there have been many steam engines that went over 100 mph such as Flying Scotsman, City of Truro, and Mallard, Tornado became the first locomotive in for the first time in over 50 years to go 100 mph on British track! That is history in the making right there, regardless of what people might say or think, steam power will always be the more effective form of transportation in my eyes than all these modern electric vehicles, not only trains, but also cars, etc.

18:11 Yes, those are traditional judges wigs. The wig adds a layer of anonymity, distancing the personal identities of the judges and lawyers from their professional roles. This is intended to reinforce the impartiality of the judicial process, suggesting that decisions are made based on law and evidence, not personal biases.

Fun fact the prison that Paddington goes to was based on the famous Dublin prison Kilmainham Gaol which was known to host people who fought during the Easter Rising and the Irish war of Independence including Padraig Pierce.

fun fact, the security guard who was in both films that you said you loved is played by Simon Farnaby, and he was a co-writer on this film and on Wonka (which was directed and written by Paddington director and writer Paul King)

When I saw Phoenix Buchanan I said to my mum that I don’t trust him and then she spilled out that he’s the baddie. The ending of the movie was so entertaining cause well it’s a musical number for crying out loud

Jadd J..A.D.D. Jadd I love this movie so much to quote Pedro Pascal from The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent 'It made me want to be a better man.' It really hits me in the heart with the underwater scene and him reuniting with his aunt talk about the power of cinema.

I don't think it's as flawless a movie as people like to claim (for example the action sequences and montages tend to drag a bit) but it's still very touching and beautifully constructed
