It's so good to hear the Good news with a wee bit of humour (ie 'Yahtzee & 'dice kit' at the door)! Thank you for sharing from God's word. God bless everyone who has tuned in. 🙏 🇨🇦

Thank you very much Pastor David. That was a wonderful exposition. I'm doing a short series in Acts 1-6 to lead the churches that I'm overseeing on a Church Reset. Frankly, I'm tempted to just skip this part (Acts 1:12-26) because I don't know how to relate it to my series but your exposition on this passage was so enlightening and I realised my flock needs to hear it. I just want to ask permission that I'll be sharing most part of your sermon and preach it in our own dialect. I also want you to know that I'm listening many of your sermons. Again thank you. Joel Pranza here from Mindanao, Philippines.

it is the name of Matthias that will be on one of the twelve foundations of the Jerusalem City, not the name of Paul, because Paul was not one of the apostles of the Lamb, rather he was the apostle of gentiles. There is a difference between the the apostles of the Lamb(which are 12 in number) and the apostle of gentiles(one in number- and which is Paul).

Paul, not Mathis. Galatians 1:12-17 - The New International Version (NIV) 12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. 13 For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it. 14 I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers. 15 But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, was pleased 16 to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, my immediate response was not to consult any human being. 17 I did not go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went into Arabia. Later I returned to Damascus.

I can't say for sure, but I believe it is at least a possibility that the apostles jumped the gun when they made this decision. They were told to wait for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit - but then they made this decision before the outpouring occurred. While waiting 15 years for Paul to fill that office may not have been what God wanted, I believe it is a possibility that He wanted them to wait until they were filled with the Holy Spirit before taking this action. However, I also believe that I am not called to judge other believers who aren't in outright sin, or to answer questions that the Bible doesn't answer. Thankfully, whenever they - or I or you! - make a wrong decision despite best of intentions, HE GIVES MORE GRACE. 💜

The apostles appointed Matthias to take the place of Judas. But Jesus appointed Paul.

“To cast lots puts an end to quarrels And decides between powerful contenders.” Proverbs 18:18 It was common and religiously sound in Judaism. They didn't just throw the lots or drew them, they prayed for God to have his hand on it. This is the last time it is done in the Bible. There great meaning in why it is the last time. The very next passages Pentecost happens and no longer have to throw lots for the best guess at what God wants. The Holy Spirit from then on gives direct counsel from God to those who seek it in earnest.

This is a really good explanation of the second half of Acts 1 Amen🤍God has given me so MUCH passion to teach kids how to read etc and I question why don’t I have the same energy to know how or when to share the gospel or understand how to get the conversation started or the right things to say when necessary. It’s saddening 😢I think it will come as I continue to scripture
