PSA: when putting glass in the oven you should warm it up along with the oven. If you put the glass in without allowing it to warm up will crack it due to the difference in temperature

Fun thing, you can intentionally crack marbles by heating them up in the oven and putting them in ice water. The resulting marbles are still spherical but have more interesting internal structure.

Really loved the fun way you guys are playing with editing now (moving around the inanimate objects in a stop motion way)!! Super cute. Also absolutely adore that you’re leaving all of the personality and mistakes in. For a while there, it felt like you guys were maybe polishing too much out, but I’m glad to see you’re getting back to your roots :)) Fave DIY (that I’m stealing) was the cutlery holder!!

PSA: should definitely add a warning on the thrifted glass candle since not all glass is heat resistant and meant to have flames in them. You don't want to injure your loved ones by shattering glass shards. Defintely look for thrifted candle holders or something actually meant to burn candles in to be safe.

Glass that is the same thickness over the entire vessel is usually able to handle it. If it has thin sides and a thick bottom - typical - it will prolly crack.

Be careful with the candle DIY - you want to make sure you have a heat-safe glass. If you don’t, it could crack in the oven or when the candle is lit.

I feel like if you'd made a flat piece of clay by rolling it out, used a cookie cutter for the base and cut a rectangle for the circle piece, it might've looked better. Like you link the rectangle by short side, and place it long side down onto the cookie cut circle piece.... Idk

i also find the presentation of the gift makes it seem more fun/boujee/thoughtful. i wanted to get a gift for one of my friends but she's very picky so makeup, clothes were out of the question, i also didn't have a big budget. so i bought a bigger jar with a cute lid, got a bunch of mini chocolates, a small snow globe and some decor stars and filled the jar. tissue paper on the bottom, snow globe in the middle surround by chocolate and glittery mini stars. looked really cute, way better than just putting the chocolate and snow globe in gift bag

Hey Kelsey! For the matchstick bowl, I’d recommend looking up “pinch pots.” It’s an ancient method for making cups and bowls and is the very first thing you learn in hand building ceramics classes.

5:55 the one kelsy did is called a thumb pot where you use your thumb to start making the pot basically. Another type of pot you could make is a coil pot where you roll a big sausage with the clay and then you wind it round to create the shape of the pot that you want, then you smoothen the sides of the pot and it should be in a nice shape
@Stephinachan134 жыл бұрын
thumb pot? I've only heard it called a pinch pot, cause you pinch your fingers together to thin out the clay. Guess there are a few names for it.

Hey Kelsey! I don't know if someone has commented already, but from someone who knows something about weaving, the reason it's called "warping" is because fabric is made of intertwined fibers, one going vertical and one hortizonal. One is called the warp, and one the weft. Hope that helps!
@softtay4 жыл бұрын
These ideas are amazing! Love the match striker holder and the little fabric case with utensils!!!
@RexPersonthing4 жыл бұрын
It's called "warping the loom" because those threads are called warp threads! :) In any woven fabric, the threads running one direction are called the warp threads, and the threads running parallel to them are called the weft threads. So there's the warp and the weft. :D
@caitlynb55044 жыл бұрын
"As someone who doesn't loom" yep, you definitely don't weave 😂❤ Absolutely beautiful projects!
@eyiapandora39334 жыл бұрын
The Warp are the threads that go length ways in fabric and the Weft are the threads that go left to right (weft to right ;) ) across the width of the fabric. Thus "Warping the loom" is setting up the length way threads.

The reason its called "warping" the loom is because when you're making a woven fabric, the vertical strands are called the warp, and the horizontal strands are called the weft! So since you are putting in the vertical strands, you are "warping" :)

It's called warping because the vertical yarns (or length of fabric yarns) are called warp threads. They were originally called ends. The yarns that you interlace through the warp yarns are now called weft yarns. They originally called picks and the process of putting weft thread through the separated warp threads (the shed) is called picking.

I'm sure somebody else already commented, but you can only use a lighter or a match to seal a rope if it's a synthetic fiber. Natural fibers just burn but you can "whip" (i think that's the word) the ends with string or dental floss.

The “kitten”/“button” pronunciation isn’t wrong or lazy, it’s called a glottal stop and it’s actually phonetically correct (at least in American/Canadian accents that I’m aware of). Think of how you say “uh-oh”-it’s the same thing! :-)
