Actually Using the CNC Plasma Cutter // Lift Arc Builds: Cutting Out Well Top Molds

Tay's good friend, Wyatt, who yall have seen on the channel before helping Tay with the renovation of the shop, has a neat business with his dad in northern Virginia where they make replacement concrete well tops for, you guessed it, wells. The kind where you get water out of the ground, in case there was any confusion (haha).

Over time, the concrete well tops on these old wells break and become a risk to animals and humans who may walk over them. Wyatt and his dad, operating as E.W. Allen (www.welltops.co...) cast high quality well tops from concrete and sell to clients up and down the east coast. Due to a recent contract Wyatt's dad landed, he needs to upscale his well top production, and needs new steel molds made to cast the concrete in. Enter the plasma cutter.

Tay and Wyatt's friend Spike, an architecture graduate from Virginia Tech, helped draw the individual parts of the mold in cad which could then be imported into the CAM software Tay has that runs the Shop Sabre CNC Plasma Table. All that was left to do was to load 4, 4x8 sheets of 1/4" steel on the machine individually and start burning!

This was the first big job Tay cut on the plasma table! However, as steel continues to climb in price, the pressure to get the cuts right and not waste material climbs as well. Lets see how it goes!
