@Frozoken Жыл бұрын
So true it's actually a pain in the ass. Tbh if you want a extremley safe and relatively large performance uplift just set your trefi/refresh interval to 32000. Your trfc/trefi gives you an exact performance hit to your memory as it's literally how much of its time is spent doing nothing. By default trfc is about 800 and trefi is about 8000. 800/8000 = 0.1 so that's a 10% hit to your memory performance so just setting it to 32000 gives you a roughly 7% performance increase. At really high trefi, high heat can make it unstable but that's like 60k+ and if ur voltages are stock it won't be an issue. I was running high voltages +265k trefi (intels limit) in Australia with no fan for like a week without issue so 32k is really safe.

Depending on the game the increased bandwidth makes a near linear difference in performance Other games benefit more from lower ram latency Some games dont care even if you compound the 2 So while it is true it can have tiny improvements if any its also true that going from 4800MHz to 7800MHz or even higher could result in a 62.5% increase or near enough in FPS I know Star Citizen is a game you can push through bandwidth alone and decreasing latency also pushes up frame rates Well at least until your CPU’s memory controller runs out of headroom then its only latency that can improve things For example 3000 vs 4000 DDR4 nets you 30-34% more FPS so long as your CPU memory controller doesn’t hit a bandwidth wall
@xBINARYGODx Жыл бұрын
Assuming you're running your DDR5 at no lesser than 5800, you are not likely to see much gain going higher in most games. Its that thing where speeds below X matter, but not above. Or rather you reach diminishing returns past 6Ghz. Like anyone with a z690 running 6Ghz ram is not going to be materially held back verse all else the same but on a z790 with 7Ghz ram. Most of the time to see difference, you need something limited in a way your gaming rig never will be unless you were trying - like when CPU benchmarks run a non-cutting-edge game at a lower resolution to see difference of 340FP vs 360fps. Basically, what is the maximum OC your board lists in the parenthesis value - just be close enough to that and you are fine. Anyway, turn on RT or throw some other setting high, and your GPU will be the limit 99.9% of the time.

Intel chips would likely not see any anomalous MC behavior if u dialed back your mem speeds to the way lower speeds that AMD chips are capable of at the moment. So about AMD not having the memory controller issues BZ mentions around the 13:00 mark give or take..would thus probably be true as well for Intel with Intel much more capable MC on the 13th gen. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just saying…when nagging about something it’s sometime a good idea to take a step back, remind oneself that it’s good to try to keep things in perspective. Like not, unreasonably expecting a CPU with a specific 7200MT/s@CL38 pushed to 7800MT/s@CL34 to behave similarly to an AMD CPU that I seriously doubt could ever even come close to that. Ok I don’t mean to sound like a bitch ass fanboy as that’s the dumbest thing one can be. And I’m making no claim that Intel is better because faster mem speeds. They handle memory quite differently, yet ofc, since it is DDR5 spec there will naturally be things that are similar and even identical in how shit works. I guess all I’m saying is I just think it’s a stupid remark to make as I honestly don’t think it’s reasonable to push so far above what would be possible were it an AMD equivalent system while still expecting shit behave as if it isn’t pushed to its limit of stability. But hey who the fuck am I aaand what the fuck do I know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Nobody and not much to be fair. I feel like I've seen you at boardzy channel, are you that dude who plays with an insanely high-dpi for cod?? you are making me lol, who cares about brands I got experience with all of them and I'll try to get whatever is the best for ram oc like back then the msi b550 unifi-x, or gigabyte z490,z590 tachyon or asus z490 apex. BZ & I knew about the cpu lottery is gonna happen anyways however a good motherboard is the "biggest variable" that matters the most, as is right now the later revisions of the Apex is a very strong z790 board to get 8000+mbps speeds, this dark board is still pretty good sometimes a new bios update can change it up, since evga has a small team of people writing the bios. I'm also sorry to say this, but we are in a daisy chain generation of motherboards for ddr5, t-topology is rare and silly on d5 so it's not a very good idea to run 4 kits instead of two for maximum performance. The z690 formula 4X16gb can hit 6000-6200mbps like your board, asus got their daisy figured out, however 2X'whatever'gb is still better.

@@emini6 .. Yes I'm that guy (6000 CPI). In my use case it's an expensive rig with chromed metal tubed EK water blocks on an ASUS ROG Maximus Extreme with an RTX 4090 driving a Corsair Flex 240Hz OLED monitor .. so having RAM___RAM___ vs RAM|RAM|RAM|RAM (supermodel with half her teeth missing) is an esthetic thing more so than any other reason.

@@DJaquithFL @D Jaquith small world, but why are you doing here? some of us don't play much games here at ahoc except hwbot score and parts hunting. oh lord, ek nickel-plated water blocks suck and the nickel can easily peel off, only their copper blocks are safe. If you hired me to build your PC, I would have told you to slow down your FOMO unless if you got paid big from a cash pool competitive game price or whatever business paid you to do ai work like I'm doing. Also read BZ's channel name carefully and you'll see why I'm replying very harshly from a overclocker perspective as I'm trying to help you understand that 2 ram kits for ddr5 is mandatory for extreme performance instead of 4 kits because ram gets very sensitive above 4000mbps and those manufacturers put 4 dimm slots because sometimes enterprise businesses buy "gaming motherboards" and needed ram capacity priority over speeds, if you want to use all 4 slots then you have to look for a motherboard with a t-topology tracing which is rare on ddr5 instead of high speed daisy chain tracing.

DDR4 3600MHz… Either Intel or older Ryzen DDR4 4000MHz CL18 or less is end game i say CL18 or less because good luck getting 2x32GB kits to 4000MHz CL18 without buying them specifically rated for it much less lower the CL Because Ryzen absolutely needs the fastest ram and lowest latency you can throw at it which happens to be typically 4000MHz because of the infinity fabric I will not switch to a DDR5 system till kits start coming out at CL28 with minimum 6200MHz Because otherwise my DDR4 woops its as in latency

@@Jacob-hl6sn difference between gear 1 and gear 2 is practically non existant For me gear 1 locks me at 3600 gear 2 i can go to 4000 both require the same CL But you bet your ass 4000MHz vs 3600MHz gear 2 vs gear 1 respectively wins Choosing gear 1 vs 2 is for ram is essentially meaningless as far as i am aware anyway Its not like in a car where 1 vs 2 is 80% difference its more like 1% max or something insignificant vs the higher limits gear 2 allows that is negated Well for intel anyway Ryzen probably gets hit with a nuke gear 1 vs gear 2 because its so sensitive to memory

@commanderoof4578 Жыл бұрын
Things move forward in the tech world The Cache increasing is obvious and im surprised it took AMD coming up with Vcache to make intel include more cache And it also took AMD increasing core counts to make intel do that as well The cache of CPU’s should increase until a point of diminishing returns is hit Then a few years after that the point of diminishing returns will increase yet again Its like the good old days when multi GB drives came out and was said to he the end game But look where we are today 20TB per drive for spinning rust 100TB for oversized SSD’s Things may not be intended but they will happen anyway
