Acura Integra: Exterior Door Handle Swap

Awesome video!! Me and my son finished replacing the driver side door handle on his red 1995 acura, 138k miles, and we could not accomplish this w/out your video!! It took a couple of hours, first timers DIY, but it was great working with my son on replacing the door handle. Hope you still have the integra...love the car!!

You don't necessarily have to use an integra door handle to fix it. I purchased a door handle from Autozone for a 2000 Honda Civic. I used some parts from the broken door handle and made it work. Took some time but works great and its a brand new handle so you don't have to worry about it being old and chipping off like the other one but this video helped me out A LOT! Thanks bro

This actually does work! I went and got one at O'Rileys for $20. You have to cut the pin that goes through the old handle. I also cut the plastic bit off the pieces that threads onto the rod. The new handle I bought came with a pin, spring, and the plastic part.

The 4 door rear handles also fit, great for theft prevention.

very well explained. The rod that operate the latch how is it attached to the latch on the door . could you not remove it from the latch then pull the door handle and that rod out at the same time

Are you referring to the threaded I'm babbling about at 8:48? If so, the way it's attached to the latch, I'm not sure. It's mounted up and behind a sub-frame inside the door, so I didn't go there with it. :)

yes that is the one. I just looked it up ,not sure why lol but that rod goes into a sorta of half nut (plastic) clip on the latch arm just pull it out then rod and all will come out. I guess this is an fyi

thank you for this video! very helpful. i have 2001 integra dark green too. someone tried to use a key in the key hole to get in and steal the car, presumably. my key hole/lock is completely destroyed and the handle. not sure how to address the need for a new lock..

It’s just a trim removal tool. Your local Autozone/Advance/Oreilly should have them.

Just be careful not no move around the rod for the lock too much or you’ll disengage it like I did and turn a 10 min job into a 10 hour job

I was able to find my paint color for one of them on eBay. I could have been patient and found 2..

I've got an aftermarket color but could find two handles that are the same and just live with the color accentuation. The car has some body damage as well, though but I'm fine with it as long as it keeps running good.

took my car in to get painted and now the rod keeps popping out so I can't use the exterior handle. I have to try put it back in each time eventually the rod pops out again

Personally, I’d take it back to the guys who painted it and let them fix it. If the rod is popping out, sounds like the keeper is broken, which is easily broken when taking these things apart.

I managed to fix it using a zip tie rod to door bracket to maintain tension so the rod stays in place. Super ghetto but so far works

Not sure where the rod that goes into the plastic at the end of the lock is on mine. Not sure if it’s missing but would like to know where the rods reaches to. I’m assuming leads to the latch like all the others? But can’t find still so not sure where to look
