Acura RDX review after 65000 miles of daily use. Is the newest iteration Good or Bad?

this long term review consists of my personal 2019 acura rdx I purchased when it was only 1 year old with very low miles. Sure it's had some problems but is it worth it? or should you keep looking?

So true about the touch pad.. once you get use to it.. set it and forget, i wonder how many times people keep touching their's. I hate finger prints on a touchscreen

Deffinitly a spot that gets dirty, I think touch screens are something many people don't clean.

Great mention about 91 or better octane. Yes, this vehicle requires premium unlike what the gas cap states.

With just a touch over 20 lbs of boost I think it's absolutely insane to run 87. Yes the computer will pull some timing to accommodate the lower octane fuel but it's not worth the risk.

Running on regular fuel for 90k kms. No issue.

Glad I found this video. I’m in Canada and planning to buy a used RDX from 2019-20-21 model years. I was told that 2019-20 has some issues as it was redesigned. 2021 was better and 2022 and later will be the best one to buy. Do you think buying a 2020-21 has some serious issues that’s expensive to fix? I think it being a higher Honda, shouldn’t be that expensive. And other than regular oil changes what else do you need to keep it running fine?

It's been virtually trouble free for me. They always say not to buy the first year of a redesign just incase it has issues. I think as long as you do the basics regular oil changes, air filter etc you'll get many trouble free miles imo. If you get a 20 to 21 you'll have lots of warranty left just incase anything expensive happens. Most parts aren't that expensive on these but it's the electronics that usually have issues with all the newer vehicles these days.

@@BCars_Garage Have you ever smelt oil or gas in your cabin? If yes how did you go about it? Is it oil leak or broken gasket or something else? I recently bought a CPO 2020 RDX ASpec in Ontario, Canada and I am smelling oil/gas sometimes when I accelerate hard or sometimes even while driving normally.

@SameepDalal I'd be hitting the dealership with that one that sounds to me like a leak of some sort as you should never smell oil or gas inside a newer vehicle. There's several things that could cause this. Any check engine lights on the dash?

@@BCars_Garage No Check engine light or anything on the dash. I tried to check for any leaks but there was none. Nothing under the vehicle on the floor or anywhere in the engine bay. I tried checking the oil level and I think It is higher than the top mark but I am no mechanic so I am not sure if I checked it correctly. The engine was warm when I checked, that might be the reason of high oil level.

@SameepDalal engine temp won't affect oil level. It's probably something small with no visual leaks and especially if it isn't throwing any engine codes. Keep an eye on it and see if anything changes.

What do you think of those red dials? I kinda don’t like them. Looks like it’s hard to read, but what do you think? Also it does pipe in the engine sound unfortunately. To me there isn’t a point in doing it.

Nice man im glad your enjoying it. Yeah i drove a MDX at dealership way too big. Actually very quiet for sure. RDX is my car inwanna get. Might go test drive one today. I like rhe 2022 so yeah im getting her used A spec of coures loaded.

Got the same spec but in grey and we had our back window pop just like your in our driveway. Dealership wont cover it under defeat and no open recall on that glass yet, which from so many people have similar issue should be a recall.

If there's other dealers in your area maybe try a different one. I was off warranty for it but they said they're aware of the issue sent an email to acura and they agreed to cover the replacement cost. This is a common issue that should be a recall very soon I hope

Any sunroof popping when turning into a driveway at an incline?

No however the sunroof seal had to be replaced as that had popped out and wouldn't go back into place. A common issue on these

So you have never changed the read diff fluid? 7500 ml change frequency.

Changed twice my understanding is a 30k change frequency though 7500 seems pretty often for a diff

So u haven't had rear glass issues? Or roof glass creaking? Nvm lmao They really need to recall the glass. My girlfriend is like " if that glass breaks while the babies are in there.. 😡" I'm like, yeaaa but it looks great tho 😅

That's the only real issue I've ever had I was sitting in the car and basically s*** myself when it shattered. The techs at acura were saying the rear window defrost makes a high frequency noise and supposedly that's what breaks the glass. I don't know if that's fact or fiction though
