I inserted batteries and it does not turn on. I plugged it in the wall outlet and then unplugged it and it turns off. What is the purpose of the battery compartment if it doesn’t work? This is my second purchase and both do not work with batteries, incase of an outage as stated. No customer service contact phone number. This company wants you to send an email. I need an answer now not in a day or more.

Batteries are just to keep track of the time during a power outage. Batteries do not light up the clock.
