We are going to cover acute bronchitis in it's entirety: definition, etiology, signs, symptoms, differential diagnosis, imaging, labs, and treatment!
Wonder if we should do a chest xray and/or get a procalcitonin level? We discuss that. We'll also discuss when to give antibiotics (controversial topic).

I had pneumonia 2 years ago & I didn't have much coughing but the sound was different with sharp chest pain & bringing up rusty mucus.

Hello I just find out that I have Acute Bronchitis today

It bothers me when doctors prescribe medicine that they know won’t help. My doctor prescribed me promethazine-dm along with an oral steroid for bronchitis. The cough syrup made me so drowsy, but didn’t help the cough at all so I was up all night exhausted and coughing. I have 4 kids to take care of and was so out of it in the morning. I would have rather she been honest with me than have me pay for something useless that did more harm than good.
