Ad Infinitum was initially planned as a solo project for Melissa Bonny, she recorded the debut single with guest musicians from the Dutch symphonic metal band Delain. She then decided to make it a full band. The Dark Side of the Moon is the result of a bet. Hans Platz, the guitarist of Feuerschwanz, had recorded some instrumental covers of music from the Game of Thrones score for his own youtube channel, supported by Feuerschwanz' violinist Johanna (under her real name Stephanie Pracht) and harpist Jenny Diehl (one of Feuerschwanz' dancers/ stage & video performers). He also wanted to cover the GoT song Jenny of Oldstones (season 8 episode 2) and was casually looking for a vocalist. After filming the video for Ding, Melissa offered Hans a bet, if the video for Ad Infinitum's Marching on Versailles (which was released some time prior) or Ding would reach the 1 million views on YT first. Ding/ Hans won so he dared her to record the vocals for Jenny of Oldstones. Hans brought Jenny with her harp and Melissa brought her then boyfriend (now husband) Morten Løwe Sørensen for the drums (he is Danish, his main band is the otherwise Swedish melodic death metal/ trancemetal group Amaranthe). Hans asked Feuerschwanz' manager for his opinion and they all decided to send it to Napalm Records. The response was basically "If you people are interested in recording an album in this style, sign the attached contract".

Ad Infinitum, The Dark Side of the Moon, guest performances with Feuerschwanz and Kamelot. She is right up there with Floor and Simone. Why this isn't played on American radio, I don't know. Other great songs by AI are From the Ashes and Upside Down. She actually let them set her hand on fire for the MV of From the Ashes. Watch it!

Ad Infinitum has so many good songs man haha. Bands I listen to these days are Ad Infinitum, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Beyond the Black, Xandria , Sabaton, Celtian, Eluveitie, Bloodywood .

Amazing band, they got so many great songs to choose from. Marching on Versailles, From the ashes are great choises. Also Afterlife feat Nils Molin (from Amaranthe and Dynazty) wich are a beautiful with harmonies that gives you goosebumps. 😀

Ad Infinitum is awesome, definitely a band to watch. Check out Animals, Seth and Upside Down. There's a one take guitar playthrough by the guitarist Adrian for this song that is cool to watch, too. Also Melissa and a bunch of other musicians did a tribute to Children of Bodom's Follow the Reaper, imho her vocals there are better than Alexi's (RIP). It's on the Eluveitie KZbin channel, maybe take a look at the original first though.

Good choice, although I would have recommended "Eternal Rain" or "Upside down" as the first song by AI. 😁 Whole album "Chapter III" is a masterpiece. I saw Melissa for the first time at a concert in Switzerland as the singer of Evenmore, when she was about 19-20 years old. Even then she had an outstanding vocal range from angelic to demonic and I really hope that her career reaches the next level now, in my opinion she can easily keep up with today's queens of melodic metal.
