Thank you for your review. I like the look of the Bodyguard 2.0. I have large arthritic hands. Racking a pistol became difficult. Until I rented and shot the Ruger .380. I shoot it well. That said it’s a much larger gun than the Bodyguard 2.0. If I can rack it, carry it safely, I’ll buy it

At 70 I've been carrying a Walther PPS/M2 and I love how that shoots but, it's beginning to feel heavy. With the 6 round mag and 1 in the chamber it weighs in at 1-13 oz, with the 7 round mag and 8 round mag it weighs in at 1-14 oz and 1-15 oz. My Bodyguard 2.0 should be here by Thursday and I'm really looking forward to the drop in weight. I'll probably let the PPS/M2 move on to a younger guy considering that I keep a PPQ/M2 for serious work. Thanks for the great video.
@JamesWilliams-he4lb3 ай бұрын
Awesome review. I had no idea that S&W was developing a 2.0. The whole video I was thinking it was more of a scaled down Shield than a redesign of the Bodyguard, so I smiled when you said it was like a "mini Shield plus." I've carried the 1.0 in the dog days of summer, though with the margin available for only minimal size increase as with the Ruger LCP Max, it's made me wish S&W would redesign the Bodyguard to something comparable to the LCP Max. I assumed that if that ever happened, a crisper double action trigger would be in store. At a sub 4 lb redesigned trigger, it's probably the primary reason that this doesn't seem a natural successor to the Bodyguard 1.0 though it is a clear competitor to the LCP Max (and I like this design much better). Semantics aside, this could still completely replace the 1.0 in someone's CCW, even while the 1.0 could remain a backup to the 2.0 as a primary carry for those who aren't insistent on only carrying 9mm.

Magpul Daka utility organizer is the absolute perfect fit for this firearm. Slim weatherized and protects it like a fine glove. @abc456f3 ай бұрын
Trigger pull on the new one is way too light. It's under 4 lbs. In a stressful situation, which is what it would be if you're pulling your gun, you could possibly fire that thing without intending to. I'm sticking with the OG, a purposeful pull. For competition matches, sure, a light trigger is preferable. For self defense, a heavier trigger is preferable. People who complain about the bodyguard 1's trigger don't know the difference.
@texasdude72443 ай бұрын

Me too. My Bodyguard has the manual safety. I see the new version has that option but it looks so tiny like the one in the original. For a long trigger pull like the original the safety isn’t as big a deal, but for a 4 ounce trigger on a pocket gun, I need a safety, and the new one looks the same as the one in the Shield Plus. I can get that off without any trouble, but under stress, who knows? I wish the safety on the new Bodyguard was a hair wider. The one on my Ruger LC9S is perfect. Small, but with a little ledge to get hold of.

I'm with you I was expecting a 1.0 with 10+1 not a glock 42 clone. Try out the Galloway Precision straight trigger. It reduces pull weight and travel by 35%. The difference is day and night. Galloway also offers a +1 baseplate. Add mag guts +1 and you're up to 9+1.

Fantastic video: informative, straightforward, and _useful!_ Thank you so much for showing the *size comparisons.* I have a Shield Plus & original BG380 with no laser. My only concern with the 2.0 is the light trigger when pocket carrying in a "sticky" -holster- silicone foam sleeve. This would have to be in a more secure (IWB Kydex, ankle holster), especially with no external safety. Pocket pistol with a light trigger & no safety + pocket carry = *a bad day!* 😂

I live in Florida and its 95F with 80% humidity, carrying a 25+ oz gun is a NO .... This is why when i do carry, its my Keltec P17 that weighs 14.5 oz with 17 rounds. Very light weight and i don't even know its there half the time. My P365X weighs at 28 oz with 14 rounds and feels like a brick in my pocket, i cannot walk around with that in my pocket. This gun at 11.4 oz with empty mag is impressive. Then add some 50g +P Liberty .380 and those should weigh about .20 oz (because my 9mm 50g +P are .28 oz each) so 10 of those is about ~2 ish oz so now we got a tiny gun at ~13.4-ish oz .. I just purchased mine from my LGS here in sunny Florida and I'm looking forward to shooting it this week. It has been getting rave reviews so far on KZbin and It seams to be taking off like a rocket to the moon! I'm hoping to be able to use this gun as my EDC in a front pocket carry here in the 95 degree weather! So far this is the only review that has said it is a "Hard Rack" and I have found this to be True and I am 80 years old with some nerve damage in my fingers, so I had a very hard time racking the slide and also loading the magazines but I managed to do both! I think this will become a bit easier to do as it breaks in after a few hundred rounds! This will Not become a range gun but will only be used as my carry gun every day for personal protection and I plan to carry it with the 12 round mag with 11 in the mag & one in the chamber! 12 Rounds of .380 IMO, is more than enough for self defense! I can't wait to try this gun at the range!

I FINALLY took my newly purchased Bodyguard out for a spin. The ergonomics are spectacular, NO real issues with ammo feed. The ONLY gripe I have are the sights, I am a fiber sights guy as I like to see my front sight glow green like a Christmas tree. I do NOT understand what the love affair is with a "night sight" as I believe that if it is that dark that you need a "night sight", you should just probably get the heck out of that location and or should have NEVER gone out at night and gotten yourself in that situation. I hope that someone comes out with a green fiber front sight for this as I certainly WILL replace that front sight..

In my opinion, the key to the Bodyguard 2.0 is that it is a locked breech .380. The original Bodyguard, like most micro .380s, was a blowback pistol, and the blowback action accounted for most of the muzzle flip -- a major negative with those guns. The SIG P238 is the only other small .380 that I am aware of that is locked breech, and it has virtually nil muzzle flip.

Exactly one year later, in order to manipulate the 'must have buyers' to purchase two. They may even stretch the optics cut to a third year to completely destroy all impulse conditioning, but now that optics are so widely demanded, I'd bet on performance center optics slut next year. They do actually need time to work on the performance center to make it a strong improvement. But it's fun to be snarky.
