I really enjoyed this video! I very much appreciated teacher Alvin’s musicality. He used every note of music and made the whole piece elastic, controlled and smooth. Sometimes I get worried about the steps and I tend to rush, which doesn’t help at all. Thanks again for posting this great video. Thank you!

I'm an adult doing ballet for 5 years and I still go to only beginner classes, the main reason is I cannot remember this many steps! I can do the moves and my strength and technique are alright (it's been 5 years after all), but my brain does NOT want to remember more than like 6 moves in a row. And I find myself usually watching the teacher or someone nearby anyway!

Don't feel bad for yourself. I've been doing adult ballet for like the last 25 yr's, and I am a guy no less,....and I have the same issue with remembering long sequences and linking steps too. I've always said/thought that adults who are doing ballet recreationaly as non-pro's, and esp. those of us who did not have any ballet training as children/teens and who started out in our adult years, tend to always overthink all the steps. But as I have come up with, as long as we all are enjoying what we are doing, enjoying our classes and being with our classmates -----like I know 99% of us all do, then it is all worth it for us.

Hi. I'm really intrigued by your difficulty. (For me, technique was my stumbling block). If this is something you'd like to overcome have you ever tried any brain training exercises? I don't mean ballet specific ones, I mean puzzles or specific brain training exercises. Of course if you're happy in your class then there's no need to try to change anything. But as teacher I'd actually be optimistic that this is a challenge you COULD overcome.

This is absolutely true for me as well! I have to rehearse a LOT to remember more than 6 in a row lol I’m dL it’s at 3 years adult ballet, 3 recitals and soon to be three Nutcrackers. The other day we did some petit allegro and and Still cannot remember all of them 100% every single time when repeating. Forget about it even being pretty and great technique on top of that! It’s difficult to be older and start ballet late in life.

Watching this again and again, I love the music. Alvins directions are so good, love that he's saying the body may be going this way so you have to do the balance of opposites. Wish he was my teacher. Beautiful work

Gorgeous combination! I love adagio! I had a teacher that was all about long intricate adagios, it was always so wonderful and challenging! But she doesn’t teach at my studio anymore. I miss those long adagios.

Alvin's opposition work in his body is so beautiful to watch. Great combo. It might be long, but it falls together nicely in an organic way, feeling natural to the body therefore instinctively easier. Thanks for uploading.

Gorgeous! LONG combo, tho, OMG! I would so bomb on remembering past the first few steps! Lol! Idk WHY I have such difficulty remembering long combos! I mark and everything, yet forget it the moment I am to do it! :/

This is a really pretty combination! I didn't try it myself but I might. I quite enjoy adagio and feel like it's one of the areas in class where I shine and really -dance- as opposed to just doing the steps. I have a harder time making petite allegro look 'dancey' haha. Yesterday in my class we did a deceptively challenging adagio and I was super proud of myself cause I was able to hold my developpe to second and maintain the height as we did a grand rond de jambe to arabesque. Definitely not easy! LOL
