Now you have to watch Caruso from the same night. Stunning performance from Lara & Hauser. I'd also suggest you watch her Adagio performance from 25 years ago. Absolutely stunning. One of the reasons Lara isn't as well known, is that Lara wanted to stay true to herself. Sony wanted to change her in a different kind of Popstar, and it just wasn't who she was. There was also the pressure from Celine's camp that didn't want Lara as a Competitor to Celine. That had already been happening in Quebec prior to Sony being interested in them. Celine hits Home Runs in my opinion, but Lara hits Grand Slams.

I live in Flemish part of Belgium (country where Lara is from) and they NEVER play her songs on the radio. They do in the French part but never in the Flemish part. They have one of the greatest vocalists and it’s crazy she doesn’t even get recognition in her own country

It was in this year. You ought to really watch Adagio from From Lara with love. There is no real back story emotionally. Someone mentioned to her that Adagio by Albenoni deserves words, and she wrote the lyrics. Lara is the master. Please watch the original live. Will give you more insight. Lara always makes the other partner on stage shine. She is not selfish and wanting the limelight for herself.

Lara Fabian is not that known in the USA because Rene (Celine Dion’s late husband and agent) made sure that Sony would silence her debut there. It’s all business, but I guess he saw in Lara a potential that could definitely affect Celine’s career.

Thank you❤❤❤ lara is indeed absolutely amasing. I think that as she said in one of her interviews - she comes from a very modest,humble home. her father played in bars for financing and never thaught of been famous... it was just for the love for music and having enough money to live. She has that aprouch i belive. All for art and music and she said lots of times- sharing what you know and what make people feel good. So she has nt the fason of famous singers. She has a very good presence in stage but for sake of art and not for showing off. Also i think that whom ever taught her clasic music in the conservatorium allways thaught of clasical music and didnt lead her to pop as cinservatorium is more about clasic music. So it took time for her to be known. Later i understood sony conpany tryed to block ber in the us and give celine dion more options as she was already more known... lara remained moately in europ - there she is more famous and known. Also, most of her songs are artistic choises and less just fun pop ( though she has fun pop songs) her audiens are the one that this music talks to. In her 40's her work with the great Igor krutoy was more clasic nature. Mixed with modern. She just published new album. Je suis la. You should hear it❤ enjoy

I love your reactions to this wonderful artist. She’s not really canadian because chez was raised in Belgium, with an italian mother (just listen to her Caruso live performance). She was 21 when she left Europe to go to Canada, in Quebec. I have family there and i’ve travelled in Canada… wonderful people. But Lara came back in Europe in 1997, with a wonderful success, in France but also in Belgium, even if it’s such a small coutry… She is a wonderful woman, in her singing, in her relation with her fan… and with one of my favourite belgian artist, just a neighbour in this little country, Maurane. if you have the occasion of watching this live version of Maurane and Lara Fabian singing « je suis mon autre » … wonderful. Maurane is also a true belgian natioanal treasure, singing with Adamo, Celine Dion… and leaving us much too soon. These artists are one of a kind. Talent, simplicity, but able to bring so much emotions…

I would argue that Lara is who she identifies herself to be. In her intro to Perdere l’Amore from From Lara with Love she identifies as Belgian, Italian and Canadian (esp. Québécois). With Belgian and Canadian passports she is officially a citizen of both countries. To be more precise, in another interview, she considers herself to be a world citizen. Additionally she did move back to Montreal after 1997 but now lives in Sicily where her husband and mother are from.

So much brilliance to expose. I used to be annoyed over the nefarious failure of Sony Music allowing a very small but powerful set of “Vocal Trinity” power brokers and protectionists screw American audiences. Now I’m just grateful that Nick and many others via KZbin and Patreon unearthed this Voice from another planet time capsule, allowing us all into her world where the BS Music Industry filth is in the Rear View Mirror and we get a front passenger seat to her ongoing artistry through a very clear and bright windshield. 4th Voice of the “Trinity”? Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly" or, like in this song, "patiently". This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonata, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace. The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and gave his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself. The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music compositions, mostly operatic, and different lyrics (the band Renaissance, Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance). But the most famous version, by far, is Lara’s version: it was translated into a pop song for her, she wrote lyrics in italian then co-wrote the english lyrics for it and is the original performer of these 2 versions. She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration. This song has become a classic and has been covered by many : Shirley Bassey (!!), Dimash (Lara is his absolute idol and he covered several of her songs), Floor Jansen, Polina Gagarina, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Julie Anne San Jose, Charice Penpengco, Giulia Falcone, Laura Bretan, Il Divo, Rimar, Vitas, Emily Linge, Anastasia Luna, Evgenia Fanfara, , … They made great covers but none of these match the amazing storytelling performance of Lara, or her ability to use vocal subtleties to be in sync with the music, exposed in her live from the concert From Lara with Love. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKLShGCBhLGJlZY Her italian version is also amazing. A famous italian version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5eaqZaDg5KHj6s Or you can check her recent excellent renditions: - in Zagreb, late april 2024 (italian) : kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zme6gHdodt2Hiq8si=pXrU2vQ1Lrca2PTs - In London, Royal Albert Hall, with Hauser playing cello, on May 9th 2024 (english): kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5y6oYKAiZmsb8ksi=WSoA4RXiw-TMmRNv

Stjepan Hauser is Croatian, but studied at Trinity School of Music in London. I've heard him many times at concerts which my son, an amateur cellist, insisted I'd enjoy. What has impressed me with Lara since I first heard her in Montréal over 33 yrs ago is that, like the finest wine, as she has ageed, she has matured and perfected the roundness of her tone so magnificently. Although in a quite different genre, only Joni Mitchell succeeded in this as well as Lara has. It must be the Canadian water!!

I thought that was absolutely lovely. Lara is one of the most talented singers around today. Hauser used to be one of members of the group "Two Cellos." I don't necessarily think it needs to be reacted to, it's just a heck of a good time.

you are such an amazing reactor, you're smart , sensible , you understand her so well , what a pleasure to listen to you every time you comment on her, plus you 're so expressive when you comment and feel the music and sound it's really entertaining to watch you comment, and you're also so handsome lool. about why lara is not more known is because she arrived in the us only in 1999-2000 which was a bit late in the diva era of the 90's but also , and this is true (walter afanasieff told it in an interview, and also lara fabian herself said it in an in-depth interview) : celine hated lara fabian and mostly because rené angélil brainwashed her head about lara. because tommy mottola aussi signed lara to Sony Music, Rene was scared that lara would take céline's place in the us so he put her his veto threatening tommy mottola to take céline off the sony label she was in and go to another record company if they let lara fabian do to many live performances in the us with her first album and also rene wanted tommy mottola to market lara fabian as a dance act hence "i will love again" alongside anastasia and not as a diva with super vocals that is why lara could not release Adagio as her first single or as a single in the us and, and this is 300% a true story told by lara herself, they even had to cancel lara 's appearance and live performance of adagio on the oprah show and they cancelled it last minute like literally lat said she was in her car driving to the oprah show to record her performance and appearance when she and her manager received a phone call in the car, telling her that her number on oprah was cancelled and that she could go back to the hotel. simple as that, rene didn't want her to be on oprah and he had the means and power to stop it. later on that month late still managed to be on stage with michael jackson destiny's child whitney houston etc singing for the 42 nd Street Michael Jackson Xmas concert produced by Clive Davis, you can actually find a short excerpt of that concert with lara beyoncé whitney next to each other clapping for michael jackson on stage on youtube here, lara also sang adagio live in front of michael jackson that night. tidbit: lara fabian also was chosen by David Foster to sing at his wedding with yolanda haddid ( that also you can find a video on youtube)

Your reaction is, as always, absolutely wonderful and truly insightful. It's amazing how well Lara fought with the biggest enemy of us all: time. She is well recognized as the goddess that she is, in some parts of the 🌎 - but indeed not here in the U.S. The performance was from this year, 2024, and it would be incredibly interesting to have you reacting to Lara performimg the same song, but from 25 years ago or so, when she was I think 29 of age, the “once in a lifetime” moment… You know, the best “Adagio” ever, according to me, only competing with other performances… by Lara in other concerts, according to others, haha! Anyway, today her voice is still a worldwide treasure, and her artistry unmatched, definitely. “Adagio” from “From Lara With Love” concert: 👇 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKLShGCBhLGJlZYsi=O5N500MtzusRvCCG

For Nick -- Your comments are substantive, cause you are musically educated. So thank you! -- Lara Fabian is the ONLY one of these Great pop-singers (classical music, jazz and so on not included), who is GREAT vocalist, singer, artist and actress in ONE. The closest to her in that regard is (it seems) Barbra Streisand, but she is not as organic and free as Lara (even by singing). Being a songwriter herself allows her to continue to be creative and to develop as a singer and an artist/actress. Good example is her last album Je suis la 2024. -- Eric added an informative link about why and how Lara is not as famous as Whitney, Mariah and Celine.

She’s not famous in the United States. She is incredibly famous and highly revered as the best of the best in Europe and much of the rest of the world. My understanding is she came to the States in the late 90s and was going to record under the Sony Label. After signing there were artistic differences and she decided to return to Europe.

Hi& thank you for this reaction! I think Laras biggest competition through her courier has been Celine Dion, as similar kind of french style artist, though Lara can emphasize feelings deeper, stil the big audiece finds Celine better somehow. Laras voice is very recognisable and I learned to know her hit-songs by wathing figure-skating competitions. Usually there is allways the second best artist, less known and so on. In the shadows of Frank Sinatra was Matt Monroe...with much fuller voice. ..hope Celines fans understand that it's fine with me to like her sin

The original classical piece for strings is beautiful as well, it’s in 3/4 instead of 4/4 though. I feel you can hear that the 4/4 is a logical change for the popsong Lara made of it (she sings it even better usually, Floor covered it as well), but imho you can hear that it disrupts the flow for the cellist here. This Adagio is often attributed to Albinoni but I think that’s not accurate. It will help you find it though.

@@Francesco71rm Don't give me that autotune shit when you talk about Floor. Ask Black Pegasus, he knows about that crap more than anybody else. Floor doesn't need that sh*t at all and their homestudio recordings are free from it. To compare: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2myqqJjaaqVgK8

@@user-Rockmagix Black Pegasus? What is a cartoon??? Or maybe you mean FIL from Wings of Pegasus... By the way, they are two different singers, and if you compare a studio version with a live version, sorry but you're out of track. Floor version is on a studio, with all modern instruments..with second voices and choir.. Lara did record the original live version of this song more than 20 years ago, with an orchestra . With old technology. And her performance is still a planet ahead. Then if you're only a deaf and blind fanboy, sorry but I can't help.

@@ninau. Oh I got my opinion fact.. I heard at that version few times.. First of all is a studio version.. She loses pitch many times, not the same dynamic and loses breath sustain while modulating in pitch switch. She has to cover with second voices and choir.. No sorry... Compared to Lara version.. The story of how Celine basically stabbed Lara in the back and drove her away from US success is stuff of an epic film in itself. The story of karma that now befalls Celine is also the stuff of opera. The third part of the story is your very own Americacentricity itself. Your very question speaks of that arrogant bubble all US citizens live under. Yes it’s a rock. We all (yes 2 billion of us) knew of Lara for nearly three decades now. So let this widen your worldview. Hell there are Americans who know of Pavarotti but don’t even realise Carreras was better! Sorry…you asked

Not better known because at the time she didn't match any one particular genre.

She certainly didn't want to become a dancing queen that Sony would allow. They already had "The Vocal Trinity" and their protectionists. Shout out to her for choosing her own path. She created her own Genre and we are all the benefactors watching this time capsule of Le Rein.

Don't really like her sound. She sounds hoarse... Am I correct in stating that Sarah Brightman also sung this, but in latin?
@donepearce3 күн бұрын
She could be more famous if she learned a little control. What she is doing here is chocolate box music. It's like Dimash - it's all "listen how high I can sing. Listen how loud I can sing". She needs to learn what serves the song, not what serves her ego. She needs to take some tips from Floor, who really understands that. In fact she should study the entire Nightwish band, every member of which understands the songs.
@Francesco71rm3 күн бұрын
She wrote this song and lyrics with Rick Allison in 1999 , so I'm sure she understands this song much more than everybody else . And about being loud, you are confusing a compressed and controlled sound with a scream.. Sorry. And actually, compared to the original version, she is singing more softly. 😮 About Floor, good singer, but don't compare them. Floor version of Adagio is on studio, not live with an orchestra. Floor is comfortably on studio, with autotune, with all effects, second voices and choir. Plus in a couple of occasions she loses the right pitch and in the crucial moment, the modulation on pitch switch, she also loses breath sustain. Don't compare them... 😮 I don't think that Lara Fabián needs tips from Floor Jansen at all sorry... Maybe is the opposite.

Certamente quando LARA FABIAN avrà bisogno di un nuovo insegnante di canto (spero mai perché quello che ha adesso è formidabile) potresti proporti tu come insegnante di canto che sicuramente hai più esperienza di LARA FABIAN. 😂🤣😂🤣

@@donepearce Oh, in this case we'll txt to Lara Fabian and propose you as her mentor, so you can teach her the meaning of her own songs and how to sing them.
