I loved this movie! So much I bought it! there is something so human, SPOILERS......... about it, even though the "humans" aren't human but from an alien civilization, 65 million years in our Earth's past. The sacrifice of a father to try and do the best he can for a daughter who then is angry he is not there with her as she is suffering. So many levels of emotions. I wish this movie had been better received because it's brilliant, I do think they should have made it more apparent what overtook Mills after he heard about his daughter. It was only slightly alluded to. But then it wouldn't have been as family Friendly of a film. Koa was so perfect as a pre/teen with the attitudes. Ya,, I really love this movie and I with they would do a novelization of it to really get into the meat and potatoes and all the subplots that were not really evident. Like I wanted to know more about Mill's wife and how this impacted her. Not only the tragedy. But the ensuing emotions between her and her husband.
