Adam Driver fighting dinosaurs with sci-fi weapons sounds like a surefire concept that’s guaranteed to be entertaining. But somehow, when 65 hit theatres, critics weren’t impressed and audiences weren’t present.
65 definitely raises some questions. Like why did they insist on spelling out this concept so much and ridding it of any mystery? Why do these aliens look, sound, move and measure things exactly like us? Why are all these dinosaurs so angry at these humans? What are the odds of them landing on Earth like a day before the asteroid hits?
To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to 65!

@@stormtraitor6545 I would argue while that he doubtless got better know due to the Disney _Star Wars_ trilogy, especially internationally I imagine, Adam Driver was already doing quite well and generally being recognized as an actor even before that unfortunate disastrous clusterfuck trilogy. Fortunately being in those movies didn't ruin or really negative impact his career between his acting, far too many people thirsting for Kylo Ren (enough to harass his family in real life--sigh), and doing that well-regarded _Marriage Story_ movie (that I still haven't seen) right after that one. Oscar Isaac is probably the actor closest to the same deal from the laughably ill-planned trilogy since it would be weird to argue that the Disney _Star Wars_ trilogy made Mr. Isaac "known" all of a sudden. I honestly can't think of any actor who got stuck in that trilogy actually applies to outside like Rose's poor actress and I guess Daisy Ridley (and both of those instances are unfortunately rather negative). Either way, yeah, _65_ was thankfully the exception to the seeming rule for Mr. Driver thus far, and even then for all that I've heard about the movie's faults Mr. Driver's acting isn't among them. Still, even great actors generally can't save poorly written plots, which _65_ sounds like another instance of on multiple levels--see also: ...the Disney _Star Wars_ trilogy. Otherwise that live-action _Aeon Flux_ movie with Charlize Theron would be worth-watching--it isn't.

The asteroid didn't immediately destroy all life on earth, it was a global firestorm that was quite survivable if on the other side of the planet, then a global ice age then a scorching earth, all three of those together killed off all the dinosaurs (except the small ones that could fly) And there had to be some specific reason a human would be at this particular time like Adam Driver was part of a security crew for some illicit time travel technology where "we're just going to stay in orbit, we won't alter the timeline at all" but "oh no, something went wrong!"

I remember when James Cameron got mad at the studio when they revealed that Arnie was sent back in time to help the humans in the Terminator 2 trailer, because he had it setup as a twist in the movie, so now he has the rights to have the final say for the trailers to all his movies written in his contract lol. The thing is movie studios and theatre owners, distributors etc. have a setup such that in the first week of a movie release, a bulk of the ticket sales profit goes directly to the studio and then going forward that shifts to favor the theatre owners etc. So it's in their interest to get as many people into the theaters as possible in the first week, and that's why they go so far as revealing even the twists and cameo appearances in the trailers, instead of letting people get surprised by it.

It still blows my mind that Mila Kunis' character finds out that she's basically a space princess and probably the richest person in the galaxy yet decides to throw all that away at the end to go back to scrubbing other peoples' toilets. I want to see the deleted scene where her family discovers they're actually rich and can travel anywhere in the galaxy but Mila purposely didn't tell them anything about that so they could stay cleaning people while she hangs out with her alien boyfriend. Probably one of the dumbest endings to a sci-fi film ever.

I saw the original Planet of the Apes in the theater as a kid. It's a fond memory of an era when all media wasn't spoiled pre-release by the internet. This youtube channel really is the inevitable future of entertainment, where no one ever watches the original of anything and just relies on snarky synopses instead before calling it a day. I think it’s a testament to how poor the dinosaur design was in this film that Ryan couldn’t tell that the main antagonist monster wasn’t supposed to be a T-rex. It was some fiction giant dinosauriod created by the film. A pair of t-Rex’s DO show up however near the end, before the characters escape and continue to be chased by the giant fictional monster that they eventually kill at the geyser. The fact that people struggled to even notice the difference demonstrates the importance of unique monster design.

That's exactly what I thought. I mean... they could have made it better by creating Dinosaurs that we didn't recognise, instead of ones we did.... then slowly have a reveal... we don't KNOW what dinosaurs looked like...some we do, most we don't. Would have been better to see the incoming asteroid, and THEN have the T Rex show up. That would have been a MUCH better 'Aaaahhh!' moment between the film maker and the audience...

How does Ryan George single handidly pinpoint all major movie flaws? He does it with so much ease, that its Super easy barely an inconvenience!

I think he actually mentioned in some Q&A section in one of those Revisited videos that it takes him a bunch of time to research what people's complaints are about the movie he's making a pitch about. So it's actually not super easy; he's just very dedicated, barely ever lazy,
