Why were they throwing deep on consecutive plays with 15 seconds left to play or whatever it was. Got say that’s what you have coming if you want to play like that. They were just hitting the Ab hard. Not like they were taking out his knees.
@firefly5677
@firefly5677 3 жыл бұрын
@@JK-vc7ie They were trying to run the clock out after Gase frivolously used the Jets timeouts for no reason. They knelt 3 times and were just trying to end the game but Gase was a sore loser. They weren't trying to complete the deep balls, just run the clock, which is why Rypien spent so much time with the ball. Sure, they could have just punted it away, but why would you do that when you can burn as much time as possible? The Jets defense then purposely targeted Rypien with unessecerary cheap shots not once but twice. It was very clearly deliberate and dirty.

Your diagnosis of the problem as Gase's rigidity is spot on. During Thursday night's debacle against the depleted Bronco defense, Vic Fangio all but sent out a telegram every time his defense was blitzing. His two inside linebackers moved up to the line of scrimmage just as the defense set, giving Darnold plenty of time to audible for a quick screen or slant pass. However, Gase doesn't use audibles or pre-snap motion, so the blitz that everyone knew was coming was never picked up and Darnold was left with a play that I'm sure he knew was doomed to failure. This is why the Bronco defense turned into the '85 Bears, sacking Darnold 6 times and hitting him on another 10 plays. Any mediocre coach would have made an adjustment. Instead, Gase stood like a statue on the sideline with his face buried in the playbook, ignoring his players on the sideline as well as the action on the field, while his starting QB sustained a shoulder injury.

It is absolutely incredible that a front office can watch players leave Gase's system and have career years IMMEDIATELY elsewhere. Tannehill, Drake, and so far even Jamal Adams are having amazing resurgences. It's proof that he's not really developing anyone, but that he's actively holding talent back. Those should be MASSIVE red flags for any GM. Also, didn't Peyton Manning usually have full authority to change plays at the line if he didn't like what the offensive coordinator gave him? I feel like that doesn't come up nearly enough when people talk about Gase's time "coaching" him.
