What an astonishing performance. In my humble opinion, this might be the best interpretation yet. Speed is not everything, and I'm sure he can play faster (his Hungarian Rhapsody No 2 is a prime example of this ability), but chooses a tempo which exhibits the magnificent soundscapes and trills in the most favourable manner. Also, is it just me or during the final chord at 4:42, after listening to sections starting from 4:35, one of the keys appears slightly out of tune?

Yes a key at roughly 4:40 does sound out of tune.

Amazing! This is the second recording I have heard today with a more relaxed tempo, again not that it is slow, it's just not mind blowingly fast, and this is a very beautiful piece at this tempo! Awesome performance!

his playing has improved over the years, definitely better than the 2003 version good to have seen him go back and kept working on it in pursuit of perfection

It's not often you hear a slow performance and think "I would give anything to be able to play it that fast!" I generally prefer the more frenetic interpretations, they feel more in keeping with the virtuosic tradition of the piece, but the musicality here is excellent and it's nice to hear it played this way too.

Valentina Lisitsa makes too many mistakes and her pace can't be enjoyed. Gyorgy doesn't make mistakes and plays at a reasonable and enjoyable pace.
