My granddaughter was 9 when he performed this and she decided it was our favorite song. Such a beautiful song. My Mom lived in San Diego and I was with her the season Adam was on. We couldn't wait to see him in every show. My Mom passed in 2013. Thank you Adam for such loving memories ❤

This song is what made me fall in love with the voice of Adam!! Plus he is sooo easy on the eyes! I agree his voice has matured and is even better technically in this version but the hunger in the first version is what got me! I watched his first ever performance of this song on American Idol. I remember it as if it was yesterday. It was the last performance of the night. The setting was incredible and matched the intensity of the song. As soon as he started singing I had chills til the end. I also remember because time had run out, Simon simply stood up and gave him a standing ovation, of which he never does. I had recorded it and watched it maybe 20-30 times for the next hour I was that overwhelmed by the performance. I also remember the next day surfing the web and millions of people had missed it because they were not home (working, out to dinner, etc.) and their recording time had ended before the performance! No performer will come close to him--his voice, his interpretations, his chameleon looks, his versatility, his moves, his staging--all exquisite. Once he left Idol, I couldn't watch it anymore. After you've seen and heard perfection, why bother hoping for a second miracle? (BTW, his "Ring of Fire" on Idol was also stunning, but in a totally different way.)

Came across this video because I heard this songs in a movie preview and I knew I'd heard it before and I knew I'd heard him sing on idol. Never heard the original version but I remember this performance on idol as being one of the best I'd ever seen. Then I see this video, a more matured and seasoned Adam and I've now listened to it about 12 times in a row. It's breathtakingly beautiful and brings tears to my eyes.
