Nolly, you have a really soothing voice and pace, it makes the video really enjoyable. You should do voice acting for documentaries and storytelling when you get old, Morgan Freeman's not gonna be here forever! Great workflow, I'm a big fan of the top down approach myself. It prevents from gutting the drums to a point where they don't sound like anything anymore. Will watch your next videos for sure. Oh and your impulse response sounds ridiculously good at what it does

Will be using that mid side trick for sure! Already use it at times, but I'll be using it more! I use F6 on my guitar buss and side chain it to the vocal to slightly duck the guitars out of the way of the vocals in M/S mode.

Fantastic video series! Loved both of them. My only gripe would be when you're showing us the A/B comparison's, also show it in context with the mix. It would help with your explanations on why/what you're doing. For example - when you're on the rhythm guitars and talking about the eq'd version's sounding a little more harsh than the un-eq'd version's, showing us the A/B in context with the mix would have helped further demonstrate your point. Awesome series and thank you for this!

This was fantastic thanks so much. If /hopefully when you do another, would really appreciate a look at the thought process of actually making stuff fit together. A lot of these mix tutorials emphasize how important it is to make choices based on the mix as a whole but still only show changes being made in isolation.
@willthomas7365
@willthomas7365 5 жыл бұрын
I think because he's such an experienced engineer, he can make these changes in isolation and know how they will affect the mix fit together. The best engineers can consider how each individual part affects every other part.

If you have a really drastic point in the curve like Nolly does here, and boost it you can move it around through different frequencies until you find harsh ones like this and then do the cut. It's easier to find them that way if your ears don't pick up on them at first.
