Munich is the best bouldering competition on the World Cup circuit in my opinion. Amazing venue in the Olympic stadium, enthusiastic crowd and great memories from the past made me really psyched for the comp. Check out the new episode from Munich.

That clip from Jakob at the end just cemented for me how much all the competitors love and support each other. What a humble, kind, and strong person. It's an incredible thing in a competitive sport!

That's because fundamentally, you're not competing against the other people. You're competing against the wall.
@johnmortimerjbmfitness7753
@johnmortimerjbmfitness7753 5 жыл бұрын
@@Ludix147 of course they are competing against each other, thats the whole point in turning up. They just compete against the wall when they go out trying new routes, and projects. You tend to find that climbing attracts mellow type of people, don't ask me why it's just law of attraction i guess.

@@johnmortimerjbmfitness7753 sounds like an outside perspective, this is not a team sport its you vs the wall not you vs the others doing the wall. Thats that. No law of attraction shenanigans thats just silly.

I think there is a part of competition... they enjoy to win too. But the sport itself is rooted in a personal challenge of a person against a route on rock. When you go climbing you support each other, you learn the sport that way.. you don't get a competitive mindset where you have to use all small dirty tricks in order to win.. i hope it keep to be this way even with getting more and more popularity.

Lesson learned from Munich: Wherever the competition pushes you, wherever the routers push you to jump, stay yourself, and try static. You can stay yourself while interacting with other climbers, you should stay yourself on the wall too :). Great job, anyway!

The editing of this video is phenomenal. I certainly not the first to point this out, but whoever put this together did a great job. A lot of other youtube content bores me with behind the scenes of people flying on planes or eating or announcing what they are gonna do in the video, but everything here just seemed like a genuine view into competitive climbing. The selection of climbing shots was all really good too.

It's easy to be motivated and happy when you're winning all the time. But the strongest one know how to stand up after a lost battle with head up high. But in climbing everybody knows not all days are perfect. That lection makes climbing so valueable to get a strong mind.

I always found it really interesting that the Czech republic with such a small demographic pool was always able to produce absolute outliers in almost any sport. Jagr or Hasek in Hockey and the Czech hegemony in hockey at the break of the millennium, Czech skiing in general, ice skating, soccer legends like Nedved or Cech, Tennis producing top 10 players and grand slam winners, Ondra acknowledged by the biggest legends of the sport as the best climber in the world .... etc., etc. ... I just wonder what's the magic behind this.
