you're missing the point. It's OKAY to be white. Not it's GREAT. It makes no negative assertion on anything else. Some ppl have placed posters of this in various places and ppl have called the police in response, called it a hate crime, that's it's a racist message. How can it be racist to say it's okay to be the colour your born? place a sign saying it's okay to be black and noone calls the police. Do you not see the lunacy?

@Rose Jones Why do you think it is wrong for white people to advocate for their collective interests in exactly the same way every other race on the face of the earth does? Seems to me that browns are the true bigots. Also, have you actually considered what the consequences might be if you keep pushing whites nto a corner? Black people are being killed by police in US, because they are black, they are stopped more frequently by police because they are black, they are considered criminals because they are black, but sure, white people are the victims. White people need their interests to be promoted, when white people in US and elsewhere occupy positions of power and benefit from systemic racism, however indirectly-- That is classic racist speak. Africa (or "black people") is way more genetically diverse than everywhere else so humanity is more likely to develop in africa? That's what I'd say anyway he didnt explain that particularly well. Tbf scientists tend to explain what they know and when they can't answer something they just keep quiet - that's not to say racist tropes are correct tho. We don't know what created the universe but that doesn't mean there definitely is a god. I think he's saying Africa's super genetically different so technically to characterise every one that's Africa as one "black group" is just wrong. Black people aren't quick, some Africans from certain areas are quick but it's nothing to do with blackness, more diet/peace/sporting education/lifestyle over years etc.

"anti-racists" always purposefully confuse two things. One, the fact that different races exist with different characteristics. Two, that agreeing with point one means that you are against other races or think some are superior than others. There is no doubt that there are different races, this has been proved scientifically time and time again. Different races even have different bone structures.

@kathybramley5609
@kathybramley5609 Жыл бұрын
Race is a social construct but social constructs are how we interact with the world. That doesnt mean it's a scientifically accurate or helpful set of associated traits, terms and ideas. And culture isn't downstream of race, whatever that means. It's more complicated. Their cultural identity is British, as said near the start of the interview. For some populations - or ethnicities - perhaps they converted to a religion as a clan group, ethnicity, or have a largely tribal/ethnicity-speficfic religion - which is one reason why it's hard to seperate racism and religious hatred. And anyway? What is your concluding point, again!? Nobody is the same, within populations and between them, so what!? The nature of that difference is badly mythologised. Genetic diversity encodes all sorts of traits, broad-brush pigmentation categories tied with general geography don't make for general trait sets or sound correlations, neither do small data sets either. Within Africa there is more variation in skin colour & pigmentation than in the rest of the word put together, and diaspora communities, such as african americans are distinct again, but it's not directly tied to their pigmentation or representative of the nominal construct or group - but it is to do with variations of rare & specific muscle twitch genetics that are part of general variation, to the point that it's not a racial genetic characteristic by any means. Just a culutural phenmena that a few black people who are good at running do running.

When you grow up inside a given population of people, your brain is trained on the people and faces that you see. Your brain learns to distinguish between them. Conclusion must be that anybody growing up in Europe has brains trained to differentiate people in a totally different way from who grew up in Africa, India, or China. It should be no surprise when you find that differentiating between people and recognizing them is surprisingly difficult if you go to places where most people look different from your home. This is how our brain and cognition works.

What does it mean though!? He didn't say it was a lie, he said it was meaningless and wasn't tied to or representative of the population's genetic traits on the whole. The race-myth of different muscle types being racially specific is the lie; and that is competing against the ideas of socially mediated selection, environmental factors, acting on raising the profile of a successful subset: membership of which is a mixture of those social mediating/social-selecting factors and general variation in relevant traits and not representative of the whole set - such that he lovingly tags to freaks! Average black person isn't a latent sprinter necessarily. It's difficult to even define a group to average from, but so far as people do steretypes are not gentic inherent traits across the population and are unfair steretypes. Within black peoples, there are opposite tropes - Kenyans have a big part in long distance running and though altitude is a part of it, it's not the whole story. But that blows apart the story that it's all black people have a pro-sprinting trait, because the muscle trait is opposite. There are factors selecting against swimming prowess that he listed that are all social.

If you were a biologist you would know about ring species.A series of relatively isolated populations that can still produce fertile offspring until the ring is closed.We then have separate species.Not happened with humans but the differences are HUGE,especially regarding intelligence.In percentage terms we are not so genetically different.But that comparison can be made with a chimpanzee too.Small GENETIC differences can affect the PHENOTYPE greatly.

We are a north-west European nation and this island has always been the home to Northwest-Europeans.

I have one more reason to say that race is real. Race is a dumb word to use, but it's well embedded in our lexicon by now, so race it is. It's real that the darker someone's skin is in majority white places, the more that person suffers in ways that are well documented in research. Interactions with law enforcement, in the workplace, Black mothers especially as they die in childbirth at a greater rate than lighter skinned people, and they experience more negative outcomes in general across almost all areas of life. So for politicians representing those areas who say that race is a construct and if we stop talking about it, it will go away and it's our fault for talking about it, to them I say, you damn well BETTER start seeing color and they better keep seeing it as long as Black women and others continue to die at rates much higher than with whites in the same situations, same facilities, same country, etc., with no medical or physical or skin-color-related reason for it.

In the human genome sequences, there exist of 2 main pigment components called Dark melanin (Eumelanin) and the paler called pheomelanin. All beings have it in them to be ALL colors. We all have the same genes and there genes will express themselves in terms of physical traits depending on the environment. What causes human skin to take on a specific color has nothing to do with them being different races. The whole different races thing is completely false by the way. A human beings skin color is determined by where they live. All human beings need sunlight. The two lowest sub-dermal layers of your skin contains a light reactive substance called dehydrocholesterol. 7-dehyrocholesterol contains inactive forms of vitamin D1 and D2. When sunlight hits the skin and the 7-dehydrocholesterol, it’s molecular structure changes the inactive D1 and D2 into active D3 or cholecalciferol. D3 is used to process calcium which is used to repair bones, joints, cartilage and smooth surface in your veins and arteries called the endothelium. The endothelium is your immune system’s communication system and provides a smooth surface for the blood to flow through. Without proper amounts of calcium your bones will soften (called rickets) and your immune system will begin to crumble. When people are in hot climates they produce more eumelanin (DARK MELANIN) and less pheomelanin to protect the skin and hair from sunlight.Hence the reasons of AFROS. Afros also expand in a 360 outward direction synonymous to the sun, it’s what keeps the person cool under the sunlight. In place where it’s cold , they drop the dark melanin and produce more pheomelanin. This is because in order to make the vitamin D3, the human animal needs sun and in those areas lighter skin allows for the taking advantage of what available light there is resulting in paler skin colors. Skin color is nothing more than the human body adapting to an environment trigger. I take full pride while being aware my genetic and anatomical structure is superior biologically since Blacks are the original and first dwellers of Earth

Did you know Rutherford's big argument against the idea of ethnic indigeneity (of the British, but we suppose everyone) is that the Beaker folk largely replaced the hunter gatherers (the darker skinned group that Cheddar Man came from) 4,400 years ago and therefore "no country, people, political power or border is permanent" (book quote). So you were newcomers 4,000 years ago British people, you have no claim to Britain ㋡ This is the intellectual calibre of the writer and by extension his whole oeuvre, including this most recent book, now getting free advertising by C4.

He's wrong, read Lewontins Fallacy by Edwards. There is differences between populations that have a genetic basis, even if most of human genetic diversity is found within populations, a small percentage is found across geographic populations and that is what people consider "race" or "ethnicity". Ultimately, the racial differences, ie the phenotypes/traits that the various different people have of the globe, are genetic adaptations to the varying climates/environments (skin for UV, nose for air temp, eye changes for UV, temp or dust differences, body size, head size, bone density, blood types to fight different diseases), OR some of the genetic changes are random mutations to do with sexual selection and not specifically adaptations to the environment. But to claim these phenotypical differences are not real or don't correlate closely among geographic populations is pure wokerati BS. Hence it is way more fairer to say that race in that sense (small genetic trait differences across geographic populations) does exist and is real, even if its a tiny part of the total genome.

Quite correct. Darwin's theory of Natural Selection means that the environment selects populations adapted to living in that environment. Darwin knew nothing about genes, but he knew that natural selection meant that descendants became better adapted to their environments than their ancestors. Professor Rutherford is one of the world's leading defenders of the Theory of Natural Selection and can produce many proofs that a population living in one environment has different adaptations to populations living in different environments.

If you don't like the term the thing it described does not go away in exactly the same way as banishing the word cripple doesn't help a single person to walk. These people exist and they had ancestors. It is important to know who they are and how they came to be as they are. Science is about discovering what is, not what should be admitted.
