@@shojo8708 " especially if you didn't do anything wrong" Come on guys, don't be so eager to judge a scenario you clearly know so little about. Sandler was not the only one fired that day, Lorne replaced almost entire roster. He did that because SNL ratings mid 90's were at the ultimate low and the show was the closest to being canceled by NBC ever. After that he hired guys like Will Ferrell and it all start to shine once more. It was good call, seeing it from perspective, although not necessary Sandler's fault, as he was a good cast member. SNL just need refreshment once every decade.

He doesn't think it's the best thing that ever happened to him, he's just old and worn out and doesn't care right now because he had success. If they were interviewing a man that used to be famous from Saturday Night Live and never did anything after I guarantee you that he would be very bitter or worn out from age.

@TRJ22419875 жыл бұрын
Adam was already doing movies when he was still an SNL cast member...Coneheads with Dan Aykroyd, Airheads with Brendan Fraser, Mixed Nuts with Steve Martin, and Billy Madison all came out before he was let go by NBC. I remember he even did an Opera Man bit shitting on Tom Hanks for "never giving me a freaking chance-o!" I don't think it would have changed his career much to stay another year. That was 1995. His major successes with Wedding Singer and Waterboy weren't until 1998.

The thing (for me) about Adam Sandler is that he is one of those few actors that can make a shitty movie but in the same time you're still glad that he still makes movies.. Since I was a kid (9 when Billy Madison came out) it's like you grow up with these actors and and feel like they're apart of your life.. Going through life's ups and downs.. When I see Adam Sandler has a new movie out it's almost a revert back to your childhood for a brief moment, I say thank God that he isn't some reclused movie star that makes you wonder where are they now. I loved SNL back then, but what happened was critics in general, absolutely dumped all over Season 20, Rolling Stone magazine even gave it a cover story calling it "Saturday Night Dead"! Combine that with a slight dip in ratings that year and NBC executives basically demanded the entire cast be gone, the only ppl that were back the next year were Norm McDonald, Tim Meadows, Molly Shannon, and David Spade, who only agreed to stay one more year as a favor to Lorne Michaels who wanted a veteran presence still on the show to help with the transition to basically a whole new cast!
