Maybe its just me, but I really appreciate the "not an ad, but here's the situation" disclosure. Giving context for these things and just being open really makes me trust the content of the channel more. Lots of channels do an okay job of it, and sometimes saying "this is sponsored" isn't really enough.

I mean they are legally obligated to state if it's an ad. To me this is like a mutual partnership arrangement where Adam wants their product and is more than happy to make a video about it, and they are more than happy to give him the product and do the video with him. My one question: what is the upper-most weight limit for a OneWheel board, or can you make a board to support up to 400 lbs. of rider weight?
@amberharvey45666 жыл бұрын
tyre levers will help you install the tyres same as installing a car tyre, push the bottom bead on like you already do then prop a lever in between the bead and the top rim push down a bit then with the other hand push the bead down as your rotate the whole wheel on the rig, its not much faster but it'l be kinder on your arms and puts less stress on the tyre than just hulking on it.

the satisfying *click* the screwdriver makes
@DanteYewToob4 жыл бұрын
When I used to fix cars, the best thing EVER is the click of a torque wrench. It's triple satisfying because it's; 1. A great and crispy sound. 2. It's a nice click you can feel in your hand, and also in the piece your working on. 3. It means you got your bolt/nut/hardware set _PERFECTLY_ because you set the weight beforehand, and you know each click means it's perfect and doesn't need to be double checked or redone. It's just finished. Done. Leave it be. Nothing is more satisfying than an audible, tactile, signal that you're done with your work and know that it's done correctly. Tools can be oddly therapeutic! Haha
@bmxscape4 жыл бұрын
@@DanteYewToob for fixing bicycles, we have sets of pre determined allen torque wrenches set at 3,4,5 and 6 nm for use with smaller easy to over tighten bolts. especially useful for carbon fiber bikes that require precise torque. one adjustable torque wrench would do the job but having many set at the torques you need is ideal, just like the one wheel manufacturer
@JesusisJesus3 жыл бұрын
I have taken to verbally saying “Click” during my work for the exact list of reasons above. It’s very satisfying when in front of a customer who chuckles a little bit, but the surprised look on their face when I plug the thing in with one hand, I’m totally convinced I have fixed it just because I know I have, nothing happens for half a moment and the other hand goes up in the air, whistle as my arm does a circle and I snap my finger and point at the thing as it fires into life at that exact moment after having a broken machine since before they called me in total defeat, Gives me the job satisfaction I enjoy. Totally AvE inspired.

From someone that formulates rubber, don't lick the tires LOL. Some of the curatives (and UV stabilizers) used in rubber are pretty toxic and on new tires like that, there can be bloomed curatives on the surface of the tire. You would actually be safer to lick an older tire LOL. Many rubber products will go through a cleaning process after vulcanization to clean these chemicals off the rubber but these chemicals can still "bloom" or leach out to the surface over time. Food contact rubbers are cured more carefully with specific curatives where as tires might use any curatives regardless of toxicity and they may be more concerned with the rubbers physical properties and toxicity is much less of a concern because they don't intend for people to lick the rubber LOL. Your not going to die from licking one tire one time but I would not make a habit of it LOL.

@@glitchy8429 Yeah, I know. (I own a Trampa board based DIY mountain board.) I was referring to the known issues with Future Motion boards where they caused people death or injury and only after these tragedies they issued a recall. Good luck recalling boards from across the globe... They are afraid of 3rd party repairs, but when Louis Rossman looked at their boards and power distribution systems, he found a lot of issues. Future Motion original designs are sub-par, insufficient and frankly (pardon my French) dog shit. The worst part is that when enthusiasts found workarounds and were able to improve the flawed systems, their boards got bricked by a firmware updates... Their practices are malicious towards their consumers. Future Motion as a company makes me almost as angry as Adobe does, and that's no small feat. They are also not aligned with Adam's love for tinkering with and improvement of his gear. Adam likes to own his gear, the way ownership was meant to be, not the way Future Motion thinks it is.

I got some of my stuff from third party brands. Once you build the Onewheel that fits you, it's some of the best fun you'll have. I live in a small town in rural Ohio and I've taken this thing all over the country on a recent road trip. The interesting conversations with intrigued people alone is fun and entertaining. The ride itself is an experience unlike any other. Up and down crazy hills, off road, around town, in the country. This does it all. Expensive, yes, but so incredibly satisfying. If you think that this thing is going to go fast enough that hydroplaning is a legitimate issue I have some beachfront property in Kansas to sell you
@JustWalkingMan4 жыл бұрын
@@TheCammerhammer Its not so much hydroplaning its the slick tyre having no grip on wet surfaces like granite, can make for some really nasty falls speaking from experience. I bought a treaded hoosier tyre replacement for my onewheel, best decision I ever made especially for going offroad. Most serious onewheel riders will switch to treaded tyres pretty quick

Seeing it actually assembled like this lets you see the actual quality put into these machines. You definitely get what you paid for and I want an XR now.

As someone who works in manufacturing and assembly, its honestly even more interesting to see how things are done in a similar setting

Adam needs to get a GT and review it. Actually, it would be really cool to see him make a video about Onewheel mods, especially about the stuff people are doing with the open source VESC controllers. Of course, doing so would probably burn some bridges with Future Motion...lol

@earthknight604 жыл бұрын
Imagine how much stronger your calves would be with a $200 skateboard. And what you could do with the extra $1500. You could spend a month or two in SE Asia easy (I know because I work here), including the round trip flight.

Because of the expense of the one wheel this is something sadly I will never own in this lifetime. But thanks to Adam Savage I get to see what one surfer / skater looks like when he wakes up on his birthday and gets what he hoped for. Thanks Adam.

There’s this interesting instrument called the melodica and it’s like a combination of a harmonica and a piano. It’s a wind instrument and is played by blowing through a tube and pressing certain keys to play different notes. I personally love them and though it would be cool to see Adam try to modify one of them to try and make it more intricate.

The cost of these units is not at all surprising. I see at least 9 different components they could be re-engineered and manufactured for cost while delivering the same performance and similar looks. This is why you need good engineers onboard for startups like this. Making it go and manufacturing it aren't the only aspects to selling a product.
@k0nidias5 жыл бұрын
Wow man, you must be a really successful millionaire with all this insight into re-engineering and manufacturing. Oh wait, you're just armchair quarterbacking on a youtube video? Oh okay.

Nice video. Was out riding this weekend and had at least 3 people ask me "did I make that". So funny how many people still have never seen one of these. Riding on the boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ and did however pass two (2) other OneWheel riders...certainly, catching on! Nicely done team! Such a fun product to ride...

I'd never seen one of these before watching this film but of all the personal electric balancing wheeled transport things I HAVE seen, this is clearly the one that makes the most sense in every way. Would love to try one.

Is it weird that noticed a small continuity errors in the video 0:45 - Shirt is dirty, says "before I head in there..." 1:35 - Shirt no longer dirty. (thought maybe he cleaned up a bit before meeting the owner of the company) 18:33 - shirt is now dirty in the same exact fashion as the opening of the video.
