Can i just say the rustic charm of Adam's shop is amazing... like as you look around you can see anything from gatling guns to space suits, from countless tool racks to numerous shape crafting mechanisms... it brings a smile to my face to see the organized mayhem of all the beautifully crafted doodads and trinkets around Adam's shop

That was the one thing I was waiting for, actually. Sony marketed the Walkman as giving you the soundtrack of your life, so it would be extra awesome to be able to play Vol1 while walking around in costume... 😎
@Spazza42
@Spazza42 3 жыл бұрын
@@BTVRhoenrad That’s not the point of character. His Walkman was given to him by his mother who made mixtapes of all the songs she listened to growing up so he could experience them as well, it’s his childhood connection to her. If he wanted a functioning Walkman he’d have been better off buying a real one, not building one. The Zune is only relevant because it was intended as a gift from Yondu. It was given during a moment of clarity of who his real dad was, and to replace his conveniently broken Walkman. MP3’s have nothing to do with it aside from giving a prop a function, even though an MP3 player would be a pointless cost.

@@AlasdairGR Depends. To me, most people talk too slowly and aren't economical with time, i can speed them up by 25-50% and it would still be fine, especially if they aren't conveying any information that is too challenging to process. Of course there are opposites, the guy doing biotech and physics science videos at The Thought Emporium, who i wish spoke on average 20% slower, but unfortunately time-stretching audio never works quite as well as time-compressing it. And sure, the sound is never entirely natural, but it is more intelligible than for example text-to-speech voice synthesis. You'll just get used to it. Double speed tends to be a bit borderline and sometimes you have to rewind.

@@-CLASSIFIED- No it didn't, the basis of your comment is just wrong, he didn't lost any money and didn't spent any of "his own time" by creating the prop, this is his job, just like other successful youtubers who are creating content and making money out of it, this is what he does for a living, you wouldn't comment in a pewdiepie video about him losing money and spending "his own time" by creating his videos, right? What we see in the video is a man working, yes, he's having fun and likes what he does, but it's still his job, the only difference between him and someone working in an office or a factory is that Adam got a camera pointed at him. He can't justify spending $400 for the working walkman, that doesn't contradict justifying EARNING money by creating a prop, in one case he losses money, in the other case he earns it, so there's no contradiction, he made the obvious and right choice. You wanted to compliment him, I get that, but your statement was wrong, don't hate me for correcting you.

I use to do tournament bowling ( I know, so cool ;p ) "back in the day", and just had a new bowling ball drilled for my fingers. Stupid as I was, I first used it in a tournament and got a nasty flesh wound on the side of my thumb from friction over the course of the tournament. So my coach comes over with a small super glue spray bottle and without warning sprayed my thumb with it. Holy shit did that hurt! Mostly the surprise factor of it I'm sure. But it was highly effective and lasted the rest of the tournament without any more paint throughout. Why am I telling anyone this... Too much coffee.

Interesting fact, the predecessor of that Walkman flew in the Apollo missions, the TC-50 tape recorder (1968). Maybe an object for Adam to hunt down or replicate ;). That Walkman however, is one of the first models from 1979, and it was based on the TCM-600 tape recorder (1978). The Walkman itself came about when the founder of Sony wanted something more portable to listen to his music on the go, so the engineers basically took the TCM-600, ripped out the recording gear and speaker, upgraded the tape heads and added stereo....and painted it blue, of course

This gave me flash backs of my Exacto knife injury. When I was in college for my design degree, we had to constantly cut boards to mount our projects. I had this brand new Exacto knife that was jammed in its sleeve. Idk if most ppl have seen the basic metal Exacto knife but the plastic blade sleeve has these little openings on both sides. When I pulled harder to remove the knife from its sleeve...The knife slide out the side of the sleeve through the opening and right unto my finger :)... i literally cut the tip of my middle finger off (no bone, just the flesh tip). It was just hanging off by a sliver of skin. I almost didn't feel a thing because of how sharp these blades are, that it cut me like butter. I lucky didn't go to the hospital though, I was able to just place the tip back on and my mother stitched it on. Of course, lots of blood and the tip of my finger is oddly shaped now lol

@@xnonsuchx Huh? I print rough sculpts I've done in zbrush all the time to make molds with. Of course I have to account for some filler and sanding followed by a sealer to make a smooth complete surface but it most definitely isn't garbage after a little bit of work. If it were a one off I could easily use the printed piece after being filled/sanded/primed for a final paint job but I generally want a batch made from the mold and keep that printed and worked piece as a master along with the digital files.
