I love how that battery works, but I have a battery I love, that can generate up to 20v DC, has 2 USB 2.0 ports with power delivery, as well as a built-in usb-c charge port, AND a 120v AC Outlet, with 20,000 mAh of battery... Can be set to automatically power off after a few minutes of not detecting a charging signal, or can be set to just stay on until you shut it off, and although you have to turn DC output on manually every time you plug a barrel plug in, it's really good at keeping the appropriate voltage, watts, and amps, within a easily controlled range... The brand is called OmniCharge, and it was as I believe I already said, 200$ US but man is it worth it for everything from charging up a laptop approximately 1 time per charge, to using a ts100 Iron forever on a charge, especially with it automatically set to shut off after 10 minutes... That's another crazy thing, is that, as mentioned before, it won't turn off after like 5 seconds of having a fan hooked up, or whatever, because it doesn't use the regular battery bank logic, and it uses an LCD screen with an advanced menu to set all those settings for longer times, or just disabling them all together, if need be

In theatrical paint.. scenic art.. we use pouncing to transfer images. You take a piece of brown butcher paper.. draw an image on it.. and then run the the lines with a wardrobe-style tracing wheel.. this leave little holes in the paper and you can mount it somewhere and pounce over it to transfer the image to the new surface so you can use it as a guild for painting in the image. Very helpful.
@andy-in-indy3 жыл бұрын
The tracing wheel is often listed as a pounce wheel, if people are looking for one to buy.
@loucatozzi76563 жыл бұрын
My father was a sign painter. He did the same thing. He'd draw out the lettering on white rolled paper and work that design or styling until he got it to look like he or the customer wanted and then he traced the edges with a pounce wheel and then charcoal in a bag to copy the lines onto the sign surface to use as a guide when painting. This brought back fond memories of watching he work in his shop when I was a child!

If you touch the areas that are weathered with powder, will it come off? Or is there some type of clear coating? (And what is it)
@oddvertex94292 жыл бұрын
Wondering same thing if maybe aquanet would fix talc
@Rob_652 жыл бұрын
Similar as with spilling flour or talcum powder on your black clothing it will come off but not completely. The powder is ultra fine like talcum (some brands use colored talcum) and it is 'absorbed' in the fabric but not as well on ribstop nylon as on cotton or wool based fabric. There is no clear coating to fix it. Like in actual used clothing, the weathering effect will change with use

Taking pictures on your phone reminds me of a great bit of advice from a music producer; When you make a mix of a recording, put it on a CD and play it in your car, on your cheap home stereo and through generic earphones. This is how most people will hear the music. It doesn't mean anything if it only sounds really good on your expensive studio monitors....Of course it does, but not many people will hear it like that. Also, the low power warning in the comms is just proof that Savage Industries and NASA worked with CNSA to develop the suit. More lore!

I made the space helmet seen in my profile pic back in 2016 as a prop for photos when I self published my first scifi novel. Then later when that weird solar eclipse happened the day I arrived at my first burningman, they started calling me Voyager because I wore this helmet with a silver spacesuit halloween costume I'd previously decorated with paint and swapped the patches.. I dunno what it was exactly.. maybe the voyager mission patch I had stitched to another costume, or all the EL wire I superglued with a batterypack to my helmet to light up at a distance and strobe on the dance floor, but the Voyager thing kind of stuck and now I paint mural commissions and sometimes live paint at music events. Life's weird sometimes, but it can get a lot more weird without a space helmet. Kudos for making your own and teaching us about the finer details in a process

Let's say you're doing a miniature version of this, say 9 inches (22.9cm), like a standard doll or action figure. You can create a bit of soot (with a bit of wax residue) by placing a lit candle under a metal plate and allowing it to build up a bit. Great for weathering a small piece of cloth. It's possible to use Adam's techniques in a scaled-down fashion.

One question I would like to see answered is "Why did the G4 space suit have relaxed shoulders and the white ones have shrugged shoulders?" Was there a lesson learned? Was it just shifting the connection point of the fabric holding the plastic up or down slightly?
@jonspeck47363 жыл бұрын
You didn't show it during suit donning, so I thought I would mention that I think that a waist belt would really help distribute the weight of the suit. In backpacking, you want most of the weight on your hips, rather than your shoulders, so a cinchable hip belt is key. Another thing I've found is really nice on my camelback, is to have a small adjustable connector between the shoulder straps on the chest - really helps to keep the shoulder weight straight up and down on your collar bones and not angling out towards your shoulder joint. Love your suits and am trying to think about applying the techniques you've shown towards mecha/power armor! =^)

At 18:10, your Dewalt batteries don't have an over-discharge circuit because your Dewalt tools have that. It seems a little backwards, but I'd guess it makes the prospect of buying extra batteries more appealing by removing a couple bucks in cost from the batteries.

Talc is not automatically 3:50 disqualified as a non-toxic alternative. As a natural material mined for various uses one should be aware that asbestos minerals can be found in the same formation as the talc. Hence the spate of legal wrangling with the makers of baby powders and many manufacturers switching to corn starch. A properly fitted and worn respirator can mitigate some of the hazards of silica based dusts but will never eradicate the hazard entirely. Dry dust being the major concern and unfortunately wetting the agents render them to mud which defeats the point of dry powder weathering. Getting a certification from the manufacturer that the product is asbestos free may be a good step. Testing the product to insure it is asbestos free could be another option. Keeping in mind that for many places that only means it contains one percent or less of asbestos. On the other hand we're all going to die of something.

I really want a follow up on the AC compressor powered suit cooler. There are videos on them but no one has any videos oh how they actually size the restrictive orifice. Or how much refrigerant goes into them. It's very interesting. Turns of projects could use them but there's just a massive lack of DIY information on useing them or refrigation systems in general. Just a lot of commercial information that more or less just says "add this much refrigerant because the manufacturer said so" I know the charge and orifice change based on the targeted tempture differential. How do you figure that out?

It would be fair to mention that DeWalt batteries when used for their intended application *do* have under-voltage protection, it’s just in the tool instead of the battery.
