I'm sorry that this is totally unrelated to this. It was just a random thought that popped in my head. This has to do with practical effects when it comes to forced perceptive. For those cinematographers who prefer them, are there props designed to fool cameras when they are extremely close to the lens that effectively create sharp edges without sacrificing focal length? I'm thinking something similar to the dazzle camouflage they used on warships in WWI. I would think you could create a formula based on distance and focal length to cater the contouring and paint scheme to each individual situation. Also, is this totally unnecessary?!?!? Once again, apologies that this is totally unrelated to this video!

The fact that you could straight build this kit without having to fill gaps, file parts, clean mold lines and flash, or try and correct warping. I've made and worked with molds myself for much smaller scale stuff and it can be an absolute nightmare. The love and time put into this is ridiculous. If they sell these for anything less than a few thousand I'd be surprised.

@aserta

@@martinjrgensen8234 Unlikely. If you send stuff to a web space that has this many eyes glued to it, yet are fully aware of and ensured your name is kept hidden at the same time, you don't make things just so they're good for X individual. Because whomever is determined to find you, and get your product, is going to find you and is going to purchase from you. And if they're going to get that and find that it's not on par or at the very least extremely close, you can bet your top $ it's going to be heard which in terms damages your reputation and there goes any chance of selling stuff with that established name anymore. Essentially, effort down the drain. In the garage kit world, you either build your name or get some a-head in cheapo country steal your product. Not much more else. It's understandable how you'd confuse the two, since a lot of people can't make the distinction since they're casuals that come from a webpage or whatever after the product gets publicity, they do a quick search, find something that looks awfully a lot like the stuff they searched for but cheaper, then ... chuchky. It's garbage. This video, is actually the best kind of publicity one in that world can want. Cheapo country can't get their grubby mitts on it to mass produce it (like they do when someone else with a visible name does) and whomever wants it bad enough to find them among the rest, is committed to getting that product. Everyone wins. Don't believe me? Look up what happens with various phrases and people who the words "you should put that on a t-shirt". If it hits their filters, in the next week, it's already flooded on the market with garbage quality and mispronunciations. One of the reasons some people can't even be bothered to deal with merch.

Martin I here you and that's quite possible. However, I'd wager that the first few runs will be stellar quality to get the PR and brand recognition up. @@resin_Hd Most unlicensed and counterfeit products are manufactured overseas where Disney has no jurisdictions over there. All unlicensed products are shipped from China directly to the buyer. You can get in trouble if you buy large volumes and stock to resell in the US then Disney lawyers will definitely go after you but if you purchased one piece or a consumer, you are in no trouble and the worse that can happen is the product being confiscated by the customs which is very rare as sellers usually mark it as toys with limited description.

I'm betting he will be "walked" back to his time building scale models for Star Wars during the 1990s. This kit will be a canvas, hopefully that all of us will be able to see what it really takes to make a model worthy of being put in front of a $100,000 camera and special effects crew, for a shot that may be only 90 to 180 seconds long. Doubling down, I bet there are some stories he can tell us during the build that will hark back in time to a galaxy far far away... No pressure Adam 🙂

As someone who enjoys building models of the Warhammer and forge world with some 3rd party stuff, this looks amazing. It also makes me super jealous of the quality of the kit. It has no warping, miscasts, or cracks. I wish my Imperial Navy Thunderbolt was of this quality. It had its issues, but I managed to correct those with some heat and green stuff. My model now sits proudly with a lovely coat of paint based of the Mordian Iron Guard of Warhammer 40k.

With the resources GW has... forge world models could be so much better... but they aren't. I had a dream of wanting to do a dozen Thunderbolts along with some Lightnings and a Marauder to represent the various units from the novel Double Eagle, but aside from the insane cost for that along with the very limited usability (Apocalypse only) what really killed it was just not wanting to deal with the hassle of that many forge world kits.

My first reaction to Adam's reaction and description to the quality of the components was that this was resin 3D printed. I have seen and heard so many amazing things about that tech in terms of quality. Hat's off to the madlad mould masters. The scale of time, money and expertise on display is it's own thing. Clearly a passion project, first and a business venture second.

A model that large, with that level of detail, even with an experienced modeler, takes way more than a day. The fact that it is fully poseable means that the base below the model has to be considered before the legs are solidly glued. This goes beyond modeling like how most people understand it. This transcends modeling as a hobby and reaches into a fully artistic exercise, and those take days.

This is beyond stunning. Lucasfilm and Disney would be insane not to give these fine people their seal of approval - it would take ages to get one, however, given the mold turn-over. The saddest part about this is that George Lucas would have been flattered and excited at these people, or this person, recreating such a great product of his work and all Disney will do is try and sue the creator of this into oblivion. Disney would never create such a great product either, and if they somehow did, it would cost three time what this product costs. I really wish Lucas would not have sold out to Disney.
