Congratulations to Clay Hess - He's the newest member of the Seldom Scene!!

Both have wonderful clarity. As for Hess in particular, his left hand is a study in movement, graceful and loose. The tempo is metronomic. Outstanding.

I was actually the opposite. I was so mesmerized by Hess's breaks that I had to listen about a million listens before I paid any attention to Steffey. His second solo is really pretty.

The harmony sort of reminds me of the Almond brothers band.

Clay is actually my cousins son and I hate bluegrass. I was raised around music my whole life, but I just can't get into the bluegrass, although I have to say, Clay is good. Think we're a bunch of hillbillies here in SE Ohio and proud of it!

In Ohio? Maybe close, but not close enough for hillbilly level. East Tennessee is the hillbilly capital.

Mr. Hess is step above Tony Rice imho. Tony was very predictable in his breaks and watered tone wise.
@PaulCaruso534 жыл бұрын
Like you said your opinion. No Hess without Tony Rice. The giants are innovators, the newer voices are mainly clones. “ watered tone”? You gotta be fing kidding me... lmao
