This video has so much fun going on. I have to watch it every time it comes up.

I love it when two monster banjo players work together and not step on each other. Wish more people in local jams would understand that concept.
@oldwest51712 жыл бұрын
That's part of what is great about bluegrass music. It is a community thing, even up on a stage, and not a stiff performance. This is a jam session with incredibly talented players --- fun for them, fun for us. They would play the same way if thousands of people were there or no one were there.

I also wanted to comment on Clay's incredible musical ability. The first break after the second chorus, everyone just kinda stood there looking at each other for a second like "Ok, so who's going to take a break???" then after several seconds of silence go by Clay steps up, picks up where the break was supposed to be and doesn't miss a beat. Gotta love it! These guys are great!

Sierra Hull shows why she is a mandolin protégé and has awesome vocals as she shares the stage with Adam Steffey,Ron Block, Clay Hess Ron Stewart and John Bowman. Thanks for sharin.
@paul45brewer6 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you really mean prodigy; a protégé is something quite different.
@rtpjavaman6 жыл бұрын
And in fact she's not either one any more. She USED to be a prodigy, now she's a fully-realized world-class musician: mandolin, voice, song-writing, producing, and overall enhancing the world through music.

I love watching Ron Block and the other banjo player (not sure of name) go back and forth on licks. I love that lick around the 2:51 mark from the player in the back. Cool!
@userjones3399 Жыл бұрын
That banjo player in the back is not only one of the bluegrass foremost banjo players, he is a monster fiddle player too. His name is Ron Stewart.

it is not exactly an osborne classic. it is an older song than that. certainly flatt and scruggs did it before. i don't really know if it is even original to them.

fine musicians together on one stage -- but why the pedestrian tempo? too slow -- and solos lack inspiration and soul, including Hull's cautious overly-refined work. And why oh why is she guffawing on stage when the singers are trying to engage the audience with the song? I thought the audience comes first -- not the musicians and their egos. Maybe it's ok so long as you're a cute young thang....
