I was in the US Air Force in England when he got big. We all loved him. He was a force to be reckoned with. Seriously, the guy created his own genre of music. I'm glad he's still kickin. It's a tough biz, he's been bravely dealing with mental illness issues and doing a great job of it. He was a handsome devil too, lucky bastard.

I was so in love with him when I was 10/11! I stopped him in the street a few years ago and told him! 😆 Saw him in concert ‘81 and again 5 yrs ago at the Roundhouse. I don’t think he gets enough recognition for how trailblazing he actually was.

You are very kind, I'm also a fan of his music, and his attributes have included positivity. But that was just a song lyric, and the singer character was implying he does do those things and was bewildered by someone else who doesn't. It's not like if Adam Ant in real life did a PSA telling fans "Don't drink or smoke, whatever you do." Personally I try to naturally be positive, I've never smoked or drank and I don't care if subtle innuendoes follow me. Stay safe. :-)

You guys don't understand, MTV was barely born, and shooting a video was line the budget of a whole movie. And the people that loved his music before there were videos........well, that was before email. We have all changed a lot. But you have to remember how much things have changedin his career. , there was no CGI back in the day.

Technology has become so it can make you look better than you really are, 40 years later and just think about video making today, you can be turned into anything you can dream up, by the touch of a button, and just imagine trying to tell him what could be done now back then, he,d think you,d gone mad,! And yes i know the choice of words will mean something to people who know his story,
