Just one quick correction - Cosmic Ward is a forced interrupt. You have to use it on the first treachery that comes out after you play it.

Adam Warlock combined with Quicksilver is pretty killer. AW can pad the stats of QS with all three +1 upgrades, battle mage +1, and even run a Lead from the front to further pad those stats. Quick with a friction resistance on the table, and a couple always be running in hand when you have an 8/8/8 stat line...

Something you forgot to mention is that every card that goes to the encounter deck has the blue cover, which means you can easily snipe them and plan ahead every time you see one coming.

It's a very small distinction, but the reason Martinex is different from just being a blank text 2 cost ally is that even if you're running a guardian, he costs more when you're in alter-ego, as iirc none of them have the guardian trait in alter-ego. Still not a huge deal because you can play him before you flip down or after you flip up, but since there are a lot of alter-ego abilities that let you draw cards, this sort of timing may not be possible if, for example, you flip down as rocket, trash some tech to draw two cards, and you draw Martinex.

For the "In-betweeners" card and the others like it, we house rule it. Instead of the card being discarded from the game it gets put into the discard pile. I can tell you that just by changing that one rule does not break anything ( as of yet) How do I know it doesn't break anything? well I have yet to win using Adam. lol. I am just a casual player and as you stated in the beginning of the video, I'm one of those people who doesn't enjoy the deck building aspects of deck building games. I enjoy that it comes with prebuilt sets and trying to make it work with what it has. Oh, And Quasar is pronounced like the beginning of Quail (the bird) but "sar" instead of "il". :)

Adam has some really interesting cards. I want to try some kind of voltron build, I think It could work, healing allies with his battlemage skill. Can't wait for your spectrum analysis!!

Martinex is one of three basic Guardian allies who does not require your identity to be a Guardian. The other two being Cosmo (kind of hero specific) and Star-lord (nobody likes an extra encounter card and S-L hero is not an option). Upcoming War Machine cards have strong effects for exhausting an Avenger and a Guardian, which could include him in your deck as an enabler for other effects. The cards are Stand Together and "As One!".

my biggest complaint on the cosmic events are, if they are a boost cards, they go to your discard pile and not the encounter discard pile. But... Adam Warlock is my favorite hero in the game and i love playing him

Plus there are so many other ways they can get discarded without ever triggering at all for example cards like “Raid the Armory” or “Master Plan” that discard a bunch of cards in search of a specific encounter card type. And in those cases you’ve spent 2 cost and a card for nothing. Real bummer.

I guess with the cape, the idea is to stay in hero form and be defending. Being able to ready on your turn after defending is useful, even if his stats are low. Keep defending, then flip and use Soul World. Then flip straight back and get defending again. He'll keep the threat level down just by almost always being in hero form.

Agreed, with his stat line it seems that he is meant to ramp and then defend for free every turn.

Great video, I have been playing Adam Warlock and love the deck building with him for the reasons you mentioned as you just get to pick a few from each aspect. One card that works great with Soul World is Call for Aid as if you have no avenger allies you can empty your deck and put a token on Soul World.

For Marvel Boy, his uniqueness is definitely on-demand Piercing. Adam can heal him, leaving him able to Pierce as much as you need him Edit: derp, Adam can't heal him, I mixed up Battle Mage and the Leadership Resource/Effect

For Drax, I could see a recursion build (with Rapid response) that focuses on killing Major Victory in the hero phase so you can ready Drax and ATK for 5 multiple times in a turn. Also… Heroes with additional minions in their nemesis set; Captain America, ms marvel, thor, Black widow, spider-woman, Venom.

Adam Warlock is really cool. There is a lot you can do with him tho once you start optimizing his deck - his options do start to really narrow. Basically, it more or less comes down to 2 allies, 1 mystic card, 1 stat card and 1 flex card per aspect. Running the best 2 cost allies in all aspects is really powerful, tho kind of boring. Expensive allies with summoning portal, while not as strong overall as the 2 cost ally deck, is a lot more fun. Great video as always. My only disagreement is Charlie-27 who is fine in a bubble, but imo, is generally inferior to Luke Cage or WarMachine. I really like Martinex in Guardian Voltron decks, but yeah, you'd never run him if you aren't a Guardian hero.

Yeah I think beyond optimizing though, there's also just a lot of fun combinations of aspects cards you can try out that wouldn't have been possible until now. Fun to play around with!

Minions in nemesis sets seems to have been a cycle 1 thing. Captain America has 2 hydra Soldier's and a hail hydra treachery which makes each hydra minion attack the player it's engaged with, and any player that isn't attacked gets a hydra minion. The nemesis minion is zemo who is also hydra traited so you adding 3 hydra minions for hail hydra to trigger. Ms Marvel has a giant robot which has 8 health and can only be damaged if you spend a mental resource. Her nemesis minion Thomas Edison can't be attacked while you are engaged with another minion so it's good synergy to have the beefy giant robot in the same set. Thor has two frost giants which have tough. Make sense for him he is a hero who love to engage minions and kill them with overkill and has a card to actively search for a minion. So they slow him down with 3 hard to kill minions. (2 giants and Loki) Black widow has two hydra mercenaries Spider woman has two hydra regulars and a hail hydra treachery which could target the regulars or her nemesis minion Viper. Then to my knowledge they haven't done it again until warlock. With the exception of Venom but he doesn't really count since he has 4 nemesis minions. Rather than minions that are in addition to the nemesis.

Yes. Played him and my friend I play mc with was spectrum. Even solo I play as warlock(cleared thanos last time ) he is great and versatile for solo play. I love the battlemage ,draw one card cards. These 2 must come out. And the three cards +1 attack/def/twt is great to get out. To defend with 3 and ready with cape is good to.

I guess Venom wouldn’t count as having minions in his encounter set since his “nemesis” is just 4 copies of a minion, with one Side Scheme. But he’s got one of the most unique nemesis set so still worth the mention!

Living tribunal, the 2 threat is really extra. Fully nullyfing an encouter card is huge.

I can't remember all heroes with minions in their nemesis set. I think at least one of the hydra related ones has minions. I know Thor's does it has the ice giants.

The deck building shenanigans with Warlock are immense. For example: 9 of each aspect, 1 basic. I like to build decks with lots of draw. I also have a mad desire to get all three Mystics to the table at the same time. Not as easy as you might think.

It's totally fine but you'll likely want to make some substitutions. At least I did. Specifically, I didn't enjoy the gameplay of the cards that shuffle into the encounter deck. They were decent but preferred to flip them out.

Tiny correction. You said Adam Warlock is the only hero that can have all the aspects in their deck. But doesn’t Gamora have an ability that lets her have cards from each aspect? Granted, not as much as Warlock but still 4 aspects.

She can have up to 6 cards from any aspect as long as they are Attack or Thwart events. So, it’s certainly achievable, but, the focus is limited.

Could you discard a Leadership card to get +1 stats on your hero phase then do it again on the villain phase to have 4 defense during the villains attack?

I believe you can...says "Limit once PER PHASE". I could be wrong and often am, but that says to me that you can do it on the hero and villain phase every round.

@@AxelRavens Where does it say you can't use an action? I can't find it. Defending is an action, you can play cards during the villain phase. I'm not trying to be an asshole either, I'm seriously trying to find out where it says you can't.
