We really loved it and feel like we need more time to explore Manila properly so we will be going back and doing it again before we leave. Hello! New subscriber here in Southern California. Looking forward to your adventures in the Philippines. You are in the newer part of Metro Manila like Makati and BGC. Other cities around Metro Manila are much older and chaotic. Just keep in mind that Philippine tourism is not as developed as other countries. As such, sometimes it can be challenging but sweeter in the end.

Eventually in the future, Philippines will become the Thailand or Japan of Asia in the future when it comes to tourists. I just hope the locals won't get tired of the tourists and still be as friendly as it is now. Thailand is experiencing tourist fatigue as of right now due to this phenomenon and I hope the Philippines won't experience the same.

That will never happen for sure, it's a cultural thing. Filipinos are just wired differently, prolly because of our propensity to just laugh at every calamity or hardship we face perennially thus somehow affecting how we deal with strangers nay foreigners, I mean welcoming them w/ open arms.

There was a "No Loading / Unloading" sign when you first hailed a jeepney. that's why you got ignored. You'll know where they're going by the sign they have at the front. Getting that jeepney ride was the first time I saw our visitors tried doing that on their first day. It earned my thumb and subs. I'll be looking forward on your next videos. nice video - thanks. I was in Manila a few months ago (July, 2022) and also visted both BGC and Makati area. That is new and modern Manila. Hopefully, you got to see the older more hectic parts of town, such as Malate, Binondo (Chinatown) and the old Spanish quarter of Intramuros too. They are more interesting, from a Westerner's point of view.

Binalot is from the root word 'balot' which means wrap, so binalot literally means wrapped. Pinakbet is as Filipino as it gets, glad you guys enjoyed it. Makati used to be my neck of the woods and I've always felt safe there. But not so much in other parts of Manila.

Welcome to the Philippines! To be fair, you did explore the nicer and modern areas of Metro Manila which is BGC (Bonifacio Global City). If you want to explore the “old” Manila you will need to go to Binondo and Intramuros. You’ll see the Oldest Chinatown and the Spanish influence.

My sentiments exactly, Greenbelt and BGC is not Manila in the very least. In fact, I would suggest that they conduct a walking tour from Chinatown to Jose Rizal Park which is a part of Intramuros to give them a taste of the real Manila. However, I do give these vloggers props for attempting to visit the American Cemetery in Taguig which is right adjacent to BGC: one of the best sights to see in all of Manila.
