The real reason was because the Anti-X formula in Corn Syrup in the movie suppressed the X gene. With Wolverine drinking so much he was exposed to it in large quantities effectively slowing his healing factor down enough to allow the Adamantium poisoning to take effect. With both of these slowing his healing factor down immensely, coupled with the fact that Adamantium poisoning made him look extremely old and brittle, you get this version of Old Man Logan.
@StereoFozzie26 күн бұрын
This is incorrect. The corn syrup prevented the birth of new mutants mainly. So that any new mutants had to be made artificially so they could be made into weapons. The adamantium poisoning is directly lifted from the old man Logan comics on which this movie is based. The corn syrup may have had an impact, however it wasn’t impacting on Laura whose healing factor was unchanged, or the other young mutants. So the ultimate demise of Logan was ultimately the metal on his skeleton dragging his healing factor down.

@StereoFozzie22 күн бұрын
@@jameslogan130 Yes. The corn syrup theory was just something that spread far, early. But it was never confirmed. The comic the movie is based on shows adamantium poisoning as the primary means. Corn syrup may have an impact, but it doesn’t seem to affect other mutants much. It was a plot device to prevent new mutant births. It’s never implied that Charles, Caliban, the mutant children, or any other mutants are weakened. Charles killed the other x-men off screen a year prior to the movies events, itself decades after new births stopped and most mutants apparently died out. They nearly had sabertooth in the movie, as the owner of the casino, likely appearing much younger than Logan to show how much his healing factor had diminished.

@@StereoFozzie Then explain why in Deadpool and Wolverine ... every other version of Wolverine is not aged or slowly dying from adamantium poisoning due to no anti-x gene corn syrup. And it's more than just a claim. They even say it in the movie that they put something in the food to stop new mutants from being born. The gene therapy the doctor talked about affected Logan (implied) as a side effect. Logan may be being poisoned by the adamantium, but no other rendition or version or multiverse theory Logan was aged like he was in the movie. And since the gene therapy in the food was added, the original reason (adamantium) for Logan aging that much and his healing slowed down that badly was sped up. Old Man Logan was a MUCH farther future than this movie was. All the heroes were as old (in appearance, obviously not actual age) as Logan was. Here, everyone would be only a little older than "today".
@StereoFozzie17 күн бұрын
@ Because that’s how it was written. The multiverse isn’t linear, the rules aren’t consistent. This movie was based on the old man Logan comic, rather than a recreation. It was still in the future but nowhere near as far. Again, Charles was not affected by the corn syrup, neither was Caliban, and as far as we know there was no weakening of other mutants before they died. They just died out as no new mutants were born, or were killed (some by Charles). The child mutants in the movie also appear to have no resistance to the corn syrup, they were bred in mothers who likely had the gene therapy removed. It prevents their formation only. Logan is the only one seen to be weakening. To add to it, Deadpool was apparently in the same universe. He was also not weakened or any mutants he knew. The Deadpool and wolverine movie did break quite a lot and cause a number of problems, but it leans on adamantium being the cause of Logan’s diminished powers. Heavy metal poisoning.
