ADAM Audio was founded in March 1999 in Berlin. Since then the company has been developing, manufacturing and distributing loudspeakers in the field of Professional Audio.
The development of the X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter based on the 1960’s invention of the Air Motion Transformer by Oskar Heil was largely responsible for the company’s founding. Producing sound not with a piston-like diaphragm as is done in most of the loudspeakers that are on the market, but using a pleated diaphragm that is capable of moving the air 4 times faster than the folds themselves are moving was the appealing idea behind it all. The achieved results were intriguing and gave ample reason for moving forward.

However I feel that the music sometimes is a bit off and for example in this video; a bit stressful and to repetative, looping for 30 mins. Where did you find that? @INVISIBLE CULTURE sandwiching plywood between sheetrock is not something that I have seen done often. However, in a case where it was done, you would do it to add mass to a structure. Adding additional mass will improve isolation but not as effectively as decoupling (isolating two structures from physically touching or transferring energy to one another). Multiple layers of drywall with Green Glue (a decoupling product) in between them is much more common than drywall, plywood,drywall wall constructions. Keep in mind that proper isolation or soundproofing needs to be specific to the situation and structure(s). There is no one size fits all approach here. Hope this helps!

Hi Anthony, great question... The advantage of recording in an anechoic chamber would be that you would hear the most accurate depiction of what the instrument should sound like, however with recording music, so much of the sound of some instruments is the room itself and the design. An anechoic chamber would take the 'human' element out of the recording entirely and most likely would seem unnatural. Same with mixing... our ears are so used to hearing reflections in the rooms we are in and it would be difficult to mix without that. Hope that answers your question 👍

What about noise isolation like headphones has? What if we put extra mic and extra speakers to record all room noise and reversed polarity play on speakers? At the same time record wit other mic vocal?

I have had the ax7 and the adam 10inch sub (2.1) for about 3 months now. Big difference in my mixes lately! I hated it at first now wouldn't mix any other way!

Are air gaps ideal for corner bass traps as well? Or is the nature of it being in the corner, and thus a ways outward from the corner, already helping with that? -- Sounds like air gaps the depth of the panel + then some is ideal, so ceating an air gap is still preferable then I assume, yes? Hi Matt! An air gap can be an effective solution for corner bass traps as it can help dissipate low frequency sound waves. However, the corner itself can also be beneficial in trapping bass, as sound waves that hit the corner tend to reflect back towards the source, which can help to reduce their overall level in the room. Creating an air gap in a corner bass trap, such as by using a panel with a hollow back or by leaving a space between the trap and the wall, can help to increase its effectiveness. The depth of the air gap can also play a role in its effectiveness, as a deeper gap may be able to dissipate more low frequency sound. It's recommended to consult with an acoustics expert for best results. They can take into account the dimensions, materials, and layout of the room, and help you find the best solution for trapping bass in the corner of your room.

how did they get that ceiling diffuser to sit on the absorption panel?

Hi Patrick, our Space Coupling Diffusers come with mounting holes pre-drilled in them. They can be used to accept S hooks for ceiling mounting or the wall mount pins they come with. In this case, the acoustic panel cloud has eye screws, attached to the inner frame and the s hooks connect the Space Coupling Diffuser to the panel.

I own a pair of Adam Audio S3V’s which replaced a pair of Focal Trio 11 BE’s. The S3V’s are epic, but missing the deep sub frequency that the Trio 11 BE do have. So i ordered a pair of Adam Sub12 instead of one Sub15 to compliment the S3V’s in the sub low frequency. Now, without the subs and only the S3V’s, there is a frequency dip between 70 Hz and 140 Hz about -6 bB and a slight boost about 3 dB between 40 Hz and 70 Hz. Between 150 Hz and 300 Hz there is also a boost about 3 to 6 dB (because the desk i think). Measurements taken with Sonarworks. The room dimensions are 5.3 meters long, 3.2 meters wide and a sealing of 2.2 meter high. My question is, how can i treat these frequency problems with acoustic treatment? And what kind of acoustic treatment do i need? If you could help me out i would appreciate a lot so the Adams will translate at best, also with the subs in my studio space.

What is that panel behind you? Is it an absorber and a diffuser in one? Because of the wooden slats in the middle. I'd like to build one myself, is it in a sort of mathematical pattern (Different gabs between them) or is it purely estetic? Hope to hear from you what the right terms are to google this :)

Hi Bas, behind the desk are a combination of our Bass Trap Panels with our Scatter Faces mounted on them. The two products make it a combination of absorption and scattering in one. The Scatter Faces like most low profile products don't meet the requirements to truly diffuse sound but this is why they work well in small rooms. The pattern for scattering devices is usually created by randomly generating a sequence (flipping a coin is actually a common technique). For our Scatter Faces, we tried several different configurations of spacing and sizes and landed out what we thought sounded the best. I hope this helps!

this guy doesnt know sht. sound panels actually kinda to a degree soundproof the room beside the acoustic treatments. when the soundwaves hit the wall it shakes the wall then enters the panels before entering the room so, many of the soundwave energy got reduced inside the panels.
