Darn it. Now I'm going to have to go back through all my data and see what I can see! LOL! Thanks for sharing Adam!

Thank you! This will allow me to answer that intriguing question.

I followed along with this on an image that I shot that I knew included (130) Elektra. It is interesting to note that the Lowell (Custom EXPH) data does not include some (probably bigger, more well known) asteroids that are included in the "non-custom" Asteroids data included in Pixinsight. (130) Elektra did not show in the Lowell data, but it does show in the included "Asteroids" layer. Thanks for the video Adam!

I think Juan will eventually make the complete MPCORBs catalog importable I suspect .. I don't know how big it is now... probably more than 1,000,000 objects.

Thanks for this video. I have often wondered about asteroids but never really bothered looking for them. It will just give me more reason to sit in front of a monitor.

Intriguing! I use Siril instead of PixInsight but I can also platesolve and get these coordinates from an image where I see moving dots. I am not sure if Siril would also be able to help me determine which asteroid it is though, so thanks for that website. Perhaps a tool like Aladin can also help. I have a video on my channel that describes Aladin for naming and identifying faint fuzzies.

Very interesting how far the technology has come. After hundreds of hours and nights of searching ,i "discovered" comet machholtz 2 in 1994 sept but unfortunately only 3 weeks later. :( with the naked eye. and with my self-made telescope. I was 17 years old then...

You do great work! I am working on getting my observatory code as we speak. I just need some more clear nights if those still exist.

Hi Adam Happy new year. Saw your astroid processing video. It was great . Thanks for making it look so easy for amateur like me. I am particularly interested in finding NEOs and asteroids with less than 15 mag. However only challenge is that I shoot with mono camera. How can I maximise my efforts when shooting with 7 different filters ? Whats your advice ? Can I use maximum no of frames shot with any filter or should only use one shot color camera . I have 2600mm and 294mc pro and 540mm william optics triplet scope . Thanks again

Nice video Adam… thanks for sharing. One would assume that you need to do this revision before calibration of the images? Happy new year 🥳

Thanks Adam and Happy New Year! I've been waiting for this video. Curious though, how often do you need to update the asteroid database that we downloaded from PI?
@AdamBlock2 жыл бұрын
That database is not complete... I believe Juan will have a near complete set of files soon.

Would be nice to have automatic detection script for such objects, as we won't see them all, and we may miss some unknown asteroid

Astrometrica has been around for decades...it will do what you want.

Is it possible to execute it on an image container?
