I might give this a go tonight, clear skies here in York , just had a look at the Moon before it set’s. My plan tonight is to image the moon before it sets down , Uranus and Ceres. Thank you for sharing.

Hey Chris, thanks for watching.. I was expecting to find anything visible after the 3 hours of scouring old data to be honest, but to then find two in the same frame.. 🙃

Bmany thanks Hog!!! briliant! on my last session, asteroid 8340 Mumma mag 17.02 passing not far from NGC 2339 the night 2023-02-11_23-42-10, rc8 180 sec ... in blink is clearly visible .... 2 question from my side 1) exist something for the comet 2) i tried to transform the video "crop and create video" but the process give me error 3) Is there a way to keep the video images still? These small jumps in the footage are very annoying. however as usual Great video !!!!!!

Very nice. Did you consider Tycho Tracker, the ultimate Swiss knife for asteroid hunters?…

I had some trouble when attempting to plate solve some of my images using the local XPSD selected and the Gaia EDR3 data selected. This didn't happen with every image, just some. It wasn't until I switched back to "automatic catalog" and then I was able to plate solve the image successfully. Using the asteroid files was then successful when annotating. The FITS headers appeared to be correct in my "unsuccessful images" during plate solve, so I am not sure what the issue was. But all in all this was a very informative video and its fun to add annotations to the final images to assist those with identifying what is visible. Thank you!

This is brilliant. Thanks for making this video. Just had a go at searching some of my subs and found a 16 mag asteroid on the third set exampled. Very cool. Always wanted to say I'd captured and asteroid.

That’s really interesting Nigel, a bit technical! I know they were very dim, but would they show up on a ten min sub as tiny lines? Saw you on Bens video today at the Kettering show, I too bought something! the Askar FRA400 scope! Got to wait a few more weeks though! I did a little vid also on the show, you can see the scope, it’s the same one Russell has got! Clear skies!

Possibly, they won’t move much depending on how far away they are in 10 mins, so may look like a slight elongated objected in a field of round stars. My scope is f5.5 so reasonably fast, I can’t see anything higher than 17.5 from what I can tell. I’ll look forward to the Askar first light. Thanks for watching

Fascinating. More interesting than weird palette nebula art. Shame all the tools are only in pixie. Watched a guy trying to side by side eyeball Vesta4 with MPC data and Stellarium. This is brill demo you've done.

Cool. I'm guessing that data gathered near the ecliptic is more likely to contain asteroids. Time to do some googling and find out....
