Your facial hair looks pretty nice! Also Valkyrie is a really fun character that unfortunately came out right before this video was made, made by one of the Kirby devs and is up there with Pomme and Mollo in terms of being well made, just might be a bit overtuned but super fun.

Hime Dev here, thanks for adding her in the video! I'm not going to go over everything checklist style, but I am taking steps to improve. Two of the base things (high speed and sandbert dair) have already been in the works on fixing, and side special is going to have more warning for the opponent. Side Special can be parried or dodged through, so I'm going to add a sound cue before it explodes to make it more fair for people who aren't used to the arrow timing yet.

Great video as always! I was cynically expecting another wacky youtuber playing custom characters but was pleasantly surprised with it being a serious critique. I'm surprised Gustav and R-00 were rated so highly. People don't really get them, so I'm glad you took the time to figure them out. I'll be respriting Gustav since the art is pretty weak. A few moves (esp. dstrong) are lacking, so those will be reworked but overall I'm glad the character is in a good spot. I will try to figure out a way to make R-00 a bit more accessible. They are supposed to be an insane lab rat character, but definitely needs to be less intimidating lol.

Hi dev, I'm perfectly fine with the idea of him being a lab monster, but like Adam said, I just have no idea where to start with him. Kinda felt the same way with Mollo a while ago. Maybe just an in depth explanation of what each move does would be very helpful.

Hey, Adam. I never commented on any of your vídeos before, but I just wanna say that you're becoming one of my favorite youtubers. I haven't even been able to play Rivals ever, I just really enjoy platform fighters in general, but you really make me want to play. I'm enjoying your vídeos so much, not only because you clearly know what you're talking about when it comes to the technical aspects of the games, but your sense of humour and personallity, added to all the amount of attention to detail, editing and timing on your vídeos makes your channel just so endearing and entertaining. Ok so ash is like one of my absolute favorites I *do* think side b is a little strange and should be reworked because Idk it doesn't seem to fit well But so I asked chaoko how to utilize her tools and down b is actually an insane combo starter, because the projectile pulls them in and you can use jabs into tilts (mostly up tilt because it can lead into a ton of aerials) Because up air is so weak you can kind of drag them down with it and just up smash which is pretty fun My favorite way to kill us with up special because if you time it right, there's a hitbox afterthe tornado goes away that kills wicked early lol Yeah ash is super cool to me, though I think she could benefit from some buffs, even pretty long combo strings only yield a small amount of damage that Idk like maypul could do in just a few hits

personally I'm the opposite on custom characters, the way I see designing custom characters is more of getting your own ideas out there in a physical tangible form in some way, they're not always the best ideas but they're at least interesting to see. (which is why i don't like all the meme characters since their just other people's idea done again just slightly different) also just a bit of a tangent i think a character should at least have a bit of lore so they're more of an actual character and not just a fancy looking move set.

You literally couldn't have Mollo's current kit if his bombs where a on special instead of a strong, and if you put the bomb selection on taunt you'd only be able to bomb swap on the ground. Also, how do you not understand Ash's down special? Try using it in the air- it gives her tons of forward momentum & combo potential. I'm surprised you never jumped while using it.

especially with rivals customs as you appear to be able to set two completely different specials for aerial and grounded its something i miss in smash and also doesnt get used much in rivals, but zetterburn exists there have been some really good seeming characters ive played that straight up still had sandbert moves when airborne

Ash is probably my personal favorite of the bunch, not just because I like bruisers in fighting games, but also because she's nutty when you really mess around with her kit. For example, down smash sends opponents straight down, and you can edge guard with it, meaning I've killed opponents at around 30-ish%. The up special has a hitbox at the very end of the move that's crazy powerful, the projectile on down special knocks opponents towards you, so you can set up for combos, neutral special has a really long lasting hitbox, and I think it has armor as well, etc. She's a blast.

H3X3R I can’t find high or low ping matches on most fighting games in OCE mate, that wasn’t my point. This video is about one of the steps Rivals has taken to be innovative within the platform fighter sphere, namely being the addition of a character workshop. Ostensibly every platform fighter developer outside of Nintendo is in the indie realm. Rivals is the indie platform fighter to beat. I don’t see any big name companies diving into this field until Ultimate has simmered off so for the time being I feel the advancements Rivals is making and the incredible characters made both in house and by players is gonna be more influential to the developers who dive into this genre in the foreseeable future than the same characters and mechanics Nintendo’s been releasing for years now. Fornace and the Rivals team seem to have a fuck load more conversational traction on Twitter with other platform fighter devs than Nintendo do.

one thing that makes mollo easier to use is the fact that you can manually detonate bombs by using your side-B on it (unless it's the finisher bomb) also you should absolutely check out Zetta Ashikaga. Rather than taking inspiration from smash, it seems like she's taken inspiration from devil may cry

Hey Adam! I actually am a pretty good Ash player and can tell you about both Side and Down special. Mainly Side Special is actually use for combos and recovering. The side special can go into jabs and tilts that all mesh together and become really good for damage! Down Special, while people say it sucks, is so useful for hitstun, getting people closer, and setting up for even MORE combos. Really give Ash another try!

Looooooving these workshop reviews Adam, actually really surprised I'm pretty much agreeing with everything, I always felt like R-00 was a bit too complex or that Mollo's bombs felt weird to use with how the character is designed so it was nice to have a lot of my thoughts just kinda repeated back to me, yknow? I'd love to see your take on the intentionally overpowered characters like the 100% Accurate gang or Ronald McDonald, that'd be a fun ass video to see For a more realistic cluster of characters though, probably the Smash original characters (Kirby, Luigi, Jigglypuff, etc.) or the tons of Undertale characters, mainly just cause they're oddly well made Keep up the great content!

Ashe's down-b is there to loop your opponents into her jab chains. Her bread and butter combos all come right outta that jab and her aerials. Combo-ing into FAir is the most satisfying of all of these, as it almost always results in a sweet-spot response accompanied by a boxing bell sound. nearly 100% kills on mid percents if you can carry far enough with your combo.
