Every Tournament Legal Rivals of Aether Workshop Character

I made this video before Genesis, but Frostbite 2020 is using the same character list! I'm sure more events in the future will continue expanding and tweaking the roster, but this should be a good breakdown for a lot of upcoming in-person tournaments. To anyone asking about X,Y, or Z characters: Events sanctioned by the Rivals team can't use copy-written material. Hence the roster being entirely OC characters. For grassroots events though, all your favorites are fair game. As long as they're, you know. Balanced. PS I can't believe this was up for 3 weeks and no one told me there was a typo in the thumbnail that I just fixed.

That's exactly the reason. The RoA devs explicitly said they can't have any copy-written material in the official workshop brackets. For grassroots stuff though, you're good to play whatever.

One of the rules for the curated characters is they can't be related to any copyright. That was expressed in the post about applying for curation.

For tournaments sanctioned by the Rivals Devs, characters have to be copyright free. There's plenty of balanced characters that are played in grassroots online events that aren't in the video because of that! I don't know about Scout specifically, but there's definitely non-OC characters in some of those tourneys.

Apperantly you kinda missed the "timed" mechanic attacks from jab 1, after finishing jab, and down smash that follows up with an special attack that extends the combo to the max potential from ZETTA (it makes a flash noise and that's where you time that special button)

The Zetta dev said they forgot to update the info box (and did so after watching this video) so I misunderstood how the mechanic fully works, there was some confusion there :( There's a really good chance I have to make an update periodically because stuff is being patched anyways though. There's already been a bunch of changes and it's only been a month.

All the characters at Genesis and Frostbite were originally non-copywriten creations, so that restriction will likely persist for that kind of event. At grassroots, online, or community stuff though we're already seeing a bunch of other characters too!

(Probably an online stuff as you told me but I wanted to be sure)

The RoA extended workshop is all community ran, so they have their own list! I made this video for Genesis (and Frostbite used the same list) which was run by the Rivals devs. Hence the no licensed character thing.

These characters were for tourneys run and streamed by the actual Rivals dev team, so they couldn't have any IP infringement. I know there's a community organized "Expanded Workshop" list of legal characters, but I'm not sure who's on it. I'm planning on going over those soon the same way though!
