I think punching the outside is not as good as the center and I have tested it by weighing tires before and after. The ones with the hole in the center have always weighed less repeatedly. And I think if you look at the physics of it that is correct. As the tires balloon the centers grow the most and the dirt travels to the center the easiest. But lets be real, in the life of the tire for a serious racer is it really going to matter, not likely. But it could so I punch the center. I never use rims with holes in them. Great video as always Adam, you are always a great educator! I have seen your newer video too.

I agree, this is an older video. I punch all my tires in the middle to allow the dirt to exit when the tire expands.

Adam, I've noticed at big events guys cutting tires in half and then re gluing them back together (not you specifically just noticed around the pits e.g. nitro challenge ). Care to share tips on why something like that is done? i haven't seen the entire process just curious as your doing vids, maybe you can share and demo :) thanks for the vids, very helpful.

Thanks for taking the time to make this. I've noticed pro drivers aren't doing much about tire ballooning. Is it just not an issue? Is a fix something that's not allowed? Maybe it's just me having issues, but I can't find much info from the top level. Thanks man.
@AdamDrake
@AdamDrake 7 жыл бұрын
My pleasure! Tires balloting usually isn't an issue unless you have dust, dirty, and or water inside the tires.
@therccollaborative9524

I am no pro, but, I honestly feel ballooning increases the size of tire giving you top speed. Also the only solution I know for stopping ballooning adds weight to the tire and throws it off balance. I think its just better to leave it alone and make sure your tires are glued very well.

Professionally mounted premounts tend to have their vent holes in the exact center. But it seems all the pro drivers put theirs off center or in the inner wall.

Both methods work fine. It's more of a personal preference.

Hi Mr. Drake! I’ve been spending quite a bit on tires and trying to make the worn tires that I have/other racers gave me to see if I could get another last race out of them and the more I race, the more I realize that using bad worn tires isn’t going to cut it and that buying new good tires all the time is not going to fit my budget much longer. People at the track know to give me their old worn tires that they’d otherwise throw away/can’t and won’t use anymore. How do I go about getting a tire sponsor? How did you get your first one? What company was it? I know that the less than 100% sponsorships are hurting local hobby shops, and I support them as much as I can, but I just can’t pay for new tires all the time and I need a way to cut the RC bill so I can continue pursuing what I love. If you could help me, I’d appreciate it a lot.

Hello, I would start by sending a resume to the tire company you feel best fits your racing needs or what tires you feel work best for you. It seems like a lot of times guys search for the "best deal" and end up getting sponsored by a company that doesn't fit their racing needs. I hope this helps.

Adam I dont understand punching a hole in the outside tire.. why would you do that? I know there is a hole on the inside of the rim but was unaware of an exterior hole.
@AdamDrake
@AdamDrake 9 жыл бұрын
+mattster197 Not all rims have holes. Putting the hole in the tire will also allow any dirt to exit the tire.
@mattster197
@mattster197 9 жыл бұрын
Is that the only purpose of that hole? Or is if to allow air out also so they arent bouncy? If there is a hole in the interior wheel is this still needed? How does the dirt get in other than the hole if they are sealed?
@AdamDrake
@AdamDrake 9 жыл бұрын
+mattster197 The main purpose to to allow air in and out of the tire. I prefer to have the hole in the tire and not in the wheel.

Adam Drake they are not the same. Its alright though, I decided today that I'm getting rid of all my rc cars. I'm tired of buying tires and not even getting to run my car because the tires won't seat properly. Tires truly ruin the whole thing

Because they went mainstream and sold out to Horizon, just like most did post recession; MUGEN is #1 - especially in the 1/8 buggy nitro world for at least the last 2 decades... ;) From what I have relearned coming back to RC recently is all my fave brands are still around and Adam seemingly rocking the most of them as sponsors, so I may be biased but I concur with his tastes!

Don’t change yourself from outside view. Office workers, customer service people wearing their uniforms. You’re pro racer, have your own style and nothing wrong or un respectful it shows. Like KISS music group will never be on stage or on video out of their own style to wear golf shirts. Fans will be disappointed. Cheers.
