That feeling goes away with age . It’s sad but true. It’s that sense of wonder and awe. I got that with n64 (didn’t last long with that console) and definitely with SNES. Super Metroid was the most awe inspiring game when I first started playing it. It felt so huge and mysterious.

I worked electronics at target from 06-08 and i remember an entire section in the media area dedicated to HD DVD and right across from that was BLU-Ray. My co-worker was raving about HD-DVD and how badass it was and how it was the future for the 360...then a year later they were all gone and the HD DVD drive went on clearance for like $35...it was dead and no one remembers it. lol

Same here. Multiplayer is almost never my thing, either. Besides with some Gamecube racing/fighting games. But nowadays I forget the fact that the newest consoles even have multi-controller compatibility. Took me long enough to figure out how to play a PS4 multiplayer since they make you create a user account for each controller.

Great video, dude. I'm new to your channel, so I've been flat out watching your stuff the past couple days. When you were talking about true X360 exclusives, the most important one to me was Ace Combat 6. I followed that series from PS2 to X360, and its probably the only reason I didn't get a PS3. Honestly I kind of regret it - AC6 was an excellent game and all, but I got a PS3 (finally) in the last year or so and I've been having a blast with it - much more so than I did with the X360 while I had that. I really can't put my finger on why, though. I think just because I grew up with a PS and PS2, that was just where a lot of my favourite franchises happened to be, and I missed a lot of them through this generation (until now, that is).

Hey Adam, great video as usual. I have said and many people too, that the Xbox 360 was really the Dreamcast 2 in disguise. Dreamcast is still one of my favorite consoles ever and still hooked to my TV with the Wii, PS3, and 360.

Crackdown is my exclusive of choice for the 360. It´s an awesome game. I remember wanting to buy the console after waiting a year or so. There seemed to be a lot of good games and I just couldn´t wait anymore. I got to the store and they informed me that there weren´t any consoles left. Had all 3 consoles for the 7th gen. 360 was easily my favorite. Had the best game pad, online service, 3rd party games and the ui was the best also. Started achievements and cross game chat (No Cross game chat was the biggest flaw of the ps3 after the controller), among other things. Had better versions of multi plats than PS3 and obviously Wii, had great exclusives Gears, Halo, Alan Wake, Forza, Fable etc.

I'm glad Blu-Ray won the HD format war. I'm 100% aware of my bias towards Sony, but in the case of the HD format it had nothing to do with my bias. Blu-Ray WAS the better technology. It was more expensive, but ultimately it was worth it, and the prices quickly came down. Sony got screwed over in the format war with JVC back in the mid '70s. Betamax was a WAY better format. It was capable of recording and playback at 720p, so it's quality would hold up, even with today's HD standards. And yet, it was passed up for the shitty ass VCR technology, because it was cheaper to develop. I'm glad the market didn't make the same mistake with the Blu-Ray. HD-DVD wasn't bad, but Blu-Ray was still FAR superior.

+HBKCommish Cheaper and profitable was almost always the winner but in this case, both were pretty expensive just a single format was way better. HD-DVD needed extra hardware on the XBOX 360 while the PS3 had a player integrated within the system. Another thing was BLU-RAY sounded better than HD-DVD. Yes the quality of BLU-RAY helped sell itself but the fact is the marketing and overall look. All games on the PS3 were BLU-RAY. The confidence to push that tech was nuts.

I was a little kid when the Xbox 360 launched. The only thing I remember people talking about was the whole red ring thing and the first person shooters back then. I remember that the very first model of the 360 didn’t have HDMI and only composite and component. That is very shocking when thinking about that now because the only thing we ever use now is HDMI. Our family didn’t get ours until around 2010 but we got the black elite model. The Halo series was what my brother played with friends for many years while I played the original Nintendo Wii. This was a very long gaming generation.

Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia (and to a lesser extent, Blue Dragon) are two completely overlooked exclusive titles especially for any single-player oriented gamer. There's also games like the Witcher 2 and Metro 2033 which are console exclusive to the 360. My love for JRPGs made purchasing a 360 for the former 2 entirely worth it.

There were only 2 times that I stood in line to buy a console, the first time was the PS3 ( picked it up in the early morning on a launch day ) and PSP 2000 ( I was in Tokyo then, it was fun to be in a huge line with a bunch of Japanese gamers ).

Amit Prasad The games are emulated, so they don't always work perfectly. Being emulated gives them the advantage of using the 360 hardware which is obviously more advanced than the original XBox. That means they're displayed in 720p and look pretty nice. But as I said, don't always play perfectly. Unless the game originally supported widescreen, and very few did, then it will display 4:3 on your TV. You could stretch the image. Though I wouldn't recommend this as that makes it look like pure shit.

I greatly prefer the 360 "E" model, slightly smaller, quieter & cooler, I never dug the "bowtie" concave shape of the "S" which looked ok standing vertically but not laying down IMO. I have one new "E" with a 320GB HDD I got at the "360 E's" launch & a new $199 500GB "E" which is a solid investment, even over an XB1 personally. Even though I love my launch PS4 my 360 is still my preferred go-to modern system. I couldn't find a new Xbox 360 for a couple years as they sold out fast here in California at launch & getting one for a $1000 on Ebay was not an option so I waited until the day "Wolfenstein" came out in 2009 which also was the day MS lowered the price of the 120GB Black Elite from $399 to $349. I enjoyed your rant on the 360, I just did one myself as MS announced that they halted production of the 360.

I think the 360 was my favourite console of all time. Growing up I would spend hundreds of hours in my bedroom with the PS1 but the 360 had some games that , looking back, was just amazing. Games such as Bioshock was just insane when you compare it to the games we were playing the previous generation. The online aspect was amazing, Gears of War just blew me away when I first played it, not since the N64 (Goldeneye) had I stayed up all night playing a game.

The thing I remember the most from the early days of that generation is a TV show that is known for consumer complaints having an audience that was filled with people having 360's on their laps and I for a second thought " No way this is a LAN party ".

when I bought my Xbox 360 slim 5 years ago now, I remember getting my first game for it which was left 4 dead which I freaking loved to pieces as i love killing zombies then my second game was COD WAW...., but also this was when I still had a PS2 which was the main console for my childhood, but I wanted a mature change, an update to play on, and experience something new at the time. And cause I was at boarding school we were also allowed to bring in a game console to play at boarding school, which was the xbox 360 (Arcade), so I got so use to that console and not the PS3 :D I do believe that the Xbox 360 slim for a console is the best console in the 7th generation for natural fun gaming and entertainment, since I never buy blu-ray any ways. and I felt safer and had more natural feeling of buying my online multiplayer and stuff on xbox 360. But then again most of this is just all my opinion and my experiences :D

@@AdamKoralik Halo 3 would like to have a word with you. It broke a record in not only gaming but the entertainment industry in general beating out the blockbuster Spider-Man 3. It was the first time a game did something like that. As for merch there was tons of figures that lasted for that entire generation. To this day, anytime there’s a new Halo release, figures are sold for years and years in stores like Target and GameStop. Halo Infinite still had new figures in stores two years after its release. Since it’s been two years they’re doing online only for now but still releasing new figures in that online shop.

It's amazing how much I agree with you, I myself took pleasure in the remarkable Online functions of the 360 (groups of friends are we talking about this precious thing?) but I also preferred the first period where the gameplay was the most important. It's quite rare that people make this distinction when it appeared obvious to me even at the heart of the moment. I don't deny the Live period, it was probably the time I had the most fun online, we were playing Bad company 1/2 or 1943 and sometimes getting together with whole teams of friends. I am obliged to comment on Call of Duty 2, I discovered the 360 with the third, first time online with this console, the solo was bad but the multi super cool. It was later that I accidentally bought the second one ... what a game! an incredible (and long!) solo in extra difficult and even the multi was very pleasant. The best Call of Duty for me... who doesn't really know them, after the turning of the 4 I never really enjoyed myself with this license. I think we can mention the appearance of an excellent controller which remains a reference today far ahead of the shits offered by Sony for 25 years. You made me want to play it, I'm ordering the Sonic All Star Racing right away, I reconnected the 360 ​​in my living room two months ago, that's great.

I also prefer all the solo campaigns of WW2 FPS games & feel similar about the 360 line-up & legacy, I love "COD 2, 3 & WAW" also as well as the fantastic "Star Wars Force Unleashed 1 & 2". By having a couple new 360s with big hard drives we can keep all our favorite games installed with their respective patches & DLC, also all the great XBLA games. Even after MS stops supporting the 360 online I can still play & enjoy all my 150+ 360 games for a lifetime "offline".

Hey, Adam! I see you like obscure consoles, so I figured you'd like this. You forgot one console on the retrospective, man! The Zeebo! Yes! It is a very crappy 7th gen console engineered by a Brazilian company called TecToy which, back in the day, released SEGA consoles here in Brazil. Hell, they still release new versions of the Master System and the Mega Drive until this day. But, about the Zeebo; it's a console that was only released in Brazil, Mexico, China and India, nowhere else. It had graphics comparable to the PS1 and up to the GameCube on later games, and it only supported composite cables. Here's the part you're gonna absolutely love: it didn't have any entrance for any type of media (only a SD card port, which was never used). So you know what that means: it had to download games online and, as the console didn't live for very long (2 years), you cannot get any new games for the bloody thing! Now, not many games were released for it and not many companies supported it. Capcom, Namco and EA released some games for it, but they were all crappy ports of games they released just to see if the console was going to be successful but, as it bombed like hell, important game companies lost interest in the console. There was a rumor that SEGA was going to release games for it, namely Sonic Adventure (WHICH WAS THE ONLY REASON I BOUGHT THE BLOODY THING), but they never did. If you want to, you can look up more information on this console online, but you're probably gonna need a translator. Also, I'd like to get your opinion on something: should I sell my GameCube and get a Wii? I don't really have much interest in the GameBoy Player (seeing as I already have 3 GameBoys) and I'd like to use component cables for my GC games without having to spend a fortune for it. Also, I always wanted to try out the Wii and well, even if I hated it, I could still use it to play GC games, which I ADORE.

AdamKoralik Yeah, it never was much of a threat to other 7th gen consoles. But hey, this is pretty much the only graveyard console of the generation, so it kinda stands out. And HOLY SHIT is it expensive outside of Brazil! The only one available for international sale I could find (www.ebay.com/itm/zeebo-new-in-box-ultra-rare-/281532665246?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item418ca78d9e) is $500?!? THAT'S INSANE!!! And for national sale it's (aproximately) $70! Well, I'd call it the reverse PS4 effect (PS4 US $400-PS4 BR $1850).

I actually didn't care for any Halo game after 2, but the 360 did have a few good console exclusives, like Fable 3, Kameo, Crackdown, and The Witcher 2. The PS3 definitely has more must-have exclusives, but I'll always take the 360 version for any multi-plats.

If you love 2D shooters (which I do), then the 360 has the best exclusives by far, both downloadable and physical. Having non-laggy versions of the best fighting games of the generation helps too.

Heh, I remember back in 2006, people were selling 360s for 700 dollars. Damn near got suckered into getting one, but I held out. First game I got for the 360 was "NBA 2K6" and I was blown away by the graphics. I was using composite cables at 480, but it still looked great! Didn't get the "WOW!" factor with PS4, though. Perhaps it's because I'm mainly a P.C. gamer now. 360 was a fairly good launch, the only negative was that it was sold out at damn near every store I went. Couldn't get one until mid-to-late 2006. The blades were my favorite dashboard iteration; liked the vibrant colors. Nostalgia also helps.

360 Was my only console for that generation, and I have no regrets. Everyone kept calling me a Microsoft fanboy, but I love Halo, and they can't compete with that.

I didn't really get into gaming until late 2010, but I had been somewhat aware of it up to that point. I also remember thinking along the lines of 'What's going to look better then Xbox? They can't surpass that!' I feel like a fool remembering that. SEGA Survival Horror game on 360? Marked and Noted. Never knew that about the whole HDDVD thing.

I remember thinking [during the time of the HDDVD vs Bluray] that HDDVD would come out on top since, in terms of name recognition, would be an easier transition for the consumer. This either demonstrates my lack of understanding on such matters, or that my cognitive processes had been dulled as I was working full time night-shift at a supermarket. Although more recently my father bought a Bluray film, and I had to explain to him that it wouldn't work on a DVD player.

Well, a couple of other bits to note about Adam that the others may not know of and should know about in the future, that despite the others saying that the XBox 360 E model doesn’t seem appealing at all, that it was only a very short time after I had commented to you last time right here that I had found out that what they say otherwise about it is true: that it does run quieter, since I very briefly ran Sonic’s Sega Collection bit in it and it was around half as loud, and it does run on less power draw and so it runs cooler and despite its less amount of ports on it that I’m able to hook up everything to it and the HD DVD Player does slightly help with that; and lastly, main thing and it might apply to the S model as well I’m not sure, that even though it would seem that any of us getting the higher up amounts models of more storage with the XBox 360 would be a worth it idea, but after I had tried that with the 250gb model and then returned it, is that it turns out that it’s not a good idea after all, since that they’re the same as the original 4gb model, but with that sort of extra 4gb system memory storage bit taken out entirely, and someone else had commented that it’s also good to have that memory storage for the calculating, and now either way that I’m glad that I had gotten that original 4gb model to begin with after all and I’m now sticking with it, yeah. >Danny
