You can put anything you want in vinyl on the outside of the trailer, a design doesn't make it classified as commercial or require a CDL. Also, even with some things that would typically require a DOT registration (yours wouldn't anyway) if you sticker the side with "Not for hire" it allows it to be classified as personal and not require it.
