Ppre has designed a engine and exhaust system that work together . They have lost of money in research and development over decades so it makes sense to protect it. So just coping a design from a different engine builder won't achieve the same results . If he wanted a turn key package that sounds like the 787b he should have brought a package from them

Also i believe the dip in power is caused by a transition of the air going from turbulent to laminar flow at certain air intake speeds. look up bernoullis principle. The variable runners probably also help with this dip.

Stepped headers are one of the largest contributors to the sound, also improves the scavenging as well. If you can do a progressively expanding exhaust on top of this it will add to both the sound and scavenging. Another factor to think about is the material you are using for the exhaust and headers. This has a massive impact on exhaust note. Materials like titanium; while overkill for your application, are one of the main reasons the f1 engines scream the way they do because it resonates at a much higher frequency. If you can find exhaust pipe made with 440C Stainless Steel (or any really hard, high tensile stainless steel), that would be your best most cost effective option when paired with stepped headers, and a progressive header-back pipe. Edit: Give 409 Stainless Steel a shot. There are already off the shelf exhaust tubing made from it!

There was a car racing at the European Hill-Climb Championship that ran a Judd V8 engine and it sounded like an F1 car (Georg Plasa BMW 134 Judd). On recent years there was a Mercedes SLK (Reto Meisel SLK340) running the same engine that's not even close to how Plasa's BMW sounded like. I was told the difference between the cars is simply the exhaust manifold. I don't know what's different, but apparently the high pitch will definitely be achieved on that specific component.

It's not velocity, its port resonance. Pressure waves peak and push more air into the cylinder just as the valve closes. Example is when you see fuel coming out of the intake or out of a carburetor at full throttle. The pressure waves flowing backwards cause that effect.

He said it was the same difference as the 7th threat or as he said a power cord. He said each pipe is a different note and playing with the lengths in the since of how music works can allow for the diffrence in sound. Im prob talking way over my head but this video and that related in my mind.
