Let's get one thing straight, Johnny doesn't love Joshua. Johnny is obsessed with Joshua. This isn't, and should never, be looked at as love. Love should be a beautiful thing where you care for each other, trust each other, respect each other, and would do anything for them. I love my furbabies and would do literally anything for them. This is sick and it's obsession. To be so demented that you would say something horrible about that person whenever you can, as Johnny did because he made sure to drop Josh's name whenever he could with the most amount of hatred he could. He wanted to bring pain to Joshua and that's just not love and no one should ever associate that word with those actions. He's is obsessed and has a big problem that maybe he should be talking to a professional about, because I worry he might take this to another level.

There was a lot of unnecessary hate for Ethan and as someone that saw the doc first, it was frustrating to see him defend Johnny: but the last time he had seen Johnny he was supposed to be a victim so it honestly would have been more problematic in the grand scheme of things if Ethan immediately jumped on the Johnny hate train at the first excuse. It is okay that he needed more than a few inconsistencies to turn around.
@erika2m16 Жыл бұрын
Right. He actually formed his own opinion, which people on KZbin don't usually do. It was a little frustrating to watch but he came to the right conclusion in the end. Because the evidence is there, once you realize Johnny is full of it but Adam's story has been the same since day 1

Well he’d also platformed Johnny himself. If I had someone on my show and people later accused them of lying, I’d want the chance to form my own opinion too, to defend myself if necessary. I also think this is a weird situation for Ethan in general because of his fraught history with Trisha. Not excusing him, I did think he was being too flippant at places, but I understand his hesitancy. I would also point out that Johnny, while being a despicable person, is still a victim of Colleen Ballinger’s grooming. He had to learn all of these behaviors from somewhere, and he had the worst role models imaginable.

Yeah I think Adams chat have a bit of a hate boner with Ethan. Maybe they didn't know that Ethan didn't know the latest part of the story and the point of this show was to listen to Olivia do her PowerPoint (graphic design is her passion✨). I notice even the h3 chat gets like this. Imo Ethan was doing the right thing considering he didn't know what happened. He doesn't want swarms of people to attack John Boy. I actually like that he thinks out loud and processes stuff. The same happened when he was going through the Jonah hill story.
@femmecomm Жыл бұрын
I think live chat was being a bit harsh to Ethan. He was learning about it through Olivia's powerpoint and I can see not wanting to immediately rip into someone that he initially thought was a legitimate victim in all this. It's a tricky thing to dive in on without the full context and information because of Johnny framing himself as a victim.
@casna5400 Жыл бұрын

I know it was annoying to some people that Ethan kept getting confused, but watching the H3 pod live having no clue about the Swoop doc prior, I was also confused at times and him getting clarification helped me understand better. Now I’m watching more content about it after the fact. So I definitely think it’s still a net win! This is a common podcast strategy, where one person acts as the layman with no prior knowledge of the subject at hand. They mirror the viewer, often making it more engaging because they ask questions that the audience is thinking. So while it may be frustrating for people that already have the whole picture, it does serve a purpose!

@@maddielopez8625 I thought it was clear she was being hyperbolic and comedic about the cognitive dissonance you feel as a fan when someone you looked up to turns out to be awful in this way. She explicitly states what Ariana did was wrong and not actually excusable during the first video. It’s basically just jarring to see someone you respected turn out so awful and you don’t want to believe it, even if you explicitly acknowledge that you do believe it. They discussed it more in the follow up stream because there were a lot of people who thought she was being super serious. I think it’s just a genre of sarcasm that if you’re not familiar with people using a lot then it’s easy to misconstrue, but I find it weird people continue to misconstrue it even after she’s clarified multiple times now. But she and Ethan did address it in the follow up episode and she reiterates she doesn’t support Ariana. She also explained why she chose to not include some stuff some viewers thought relevant (time, difficulty verifying the claims, some claims debunked, etc).

Boundaries were set to email only, outside of office hours, and emails were always CC’d to my supervisor. While I had personal, and even loving relationships with these kids, while they were in my life, it was never unsupervised, and never outside of the bounds set to keep everyone involved safe. Fandoms ain’t that. Johnny sucks. I feel so bad for Josh. Having someone twist, what genuinely seems like someone who just wanted to help a kid thrive. Adam saying John was in love with Josh makes Josh’s reaction to Johnny coming out make SO MUCH more sense. Also, ALSO, all of the behavior was supervised by his parents, while he was a minor! Something I learned from this is that when someone doesn't give me a straight answer over and over don't just automatically assume they're socially awkward and can't understand the question. Sometimes when things don't add up and when people can't give a straight answer it's for nefarious reasons.
